I believe you are correct when you say that we would all benefit from that type of situation and that the final product would be even better. But that is not currently reality so are we supposed to ignore and not use Vision because of this? Are we supposed to boycott bp and the things he's releasing when really despite the dilema with the GPL its shaping up to be a fun and functional dashboard? Should we feel guilty like we're doing something wrong by using it? I just want to enjoy the maximum potential of the xbox and with thousands of games to browse through the vision dashboard is shaping up to be an option to consider. Put it in front of a person who doesn't know about any of this stuff and you know they'll think its pretty sweet.
You're free to put whatever you want on your Xbox, but at the very least, don't come into someone's house who's been giving you something awesome for free for years and then shit all over his bed by telling him that he doesn't matter. All you need to know is that the XBMC devs value GPL compliance, and if you don't, then just keep your mouth shut.

I love that illegal Emuxtras (comes without source code)
I love that illegal Coinops and Vision
and I love myself.

I can understand if u respect the XBMC rules with the sourcecode for ur illegal XBMC4XBOX.
But then u should respect MICROSOFT rules, too.
All unlicensed emus and homebrew games are illegal.
DONT FORGET IT !!!

Whats the solution for this????

And whats the probleme for the BP guy to release the source?
Come on BP and give them the source for ur VISION.
Maybe people could learn something from ur skillz :)

BUt whats with the other guyz that dont release their source code?
OK I know that Xport source is on xbins but where to find that from other emudevs?
@Luigi: DONT MIX ORANGES AND APPLES !!
Dude if you took 5 minutes to read the entire thread you wouldn't say stupid things like that...
Why anybody should release their source when their project is not open source but closed source ???
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison ... sed_source

DONT FORGET !!
As BuZz said, you can say whatever you like about the XDK, its not a legal reason to violate the GPL...
Think before you talk... As buzz said we can dismiss the binary's if necessary...
Do you want that...??

@others:
Seriously this thread is making me sick... I bet every Users arguing in here has no morals in their everyday life.
Ex: Using an Iphone and wearing Nike shoes. (If you have no morals, this means nothing... but someone who respects life, and have good morals would never use an iphone or wear Nike shoes)

Guys i'm into free software development since the mid 2000's... And rarely seen people disrespectful like some of you guys in this thread..
But what is really pissing me off (excuse the caps):
NONE OF YOU COMPLAINING GOT THE KNOWLEDGE TO ARGUE, NO ONE IS A PROGRAMMER... AND NO ONE KNOW ABOUT FREE SOFTWARE..
THE FREE SOFTWARE MOVEMENT IS ALMOST LIKE A CHURCH, YOU NEED COUNTLESS NIGHT OF STUDY TO START TO UNDERSTAND ANYTHING ABOUT IT.
I really really can't understand why people without proper knowledge are getting into this discussion. :(
You guys cant realise it.. you REALLY do look like kids in their imaginary world.
If you don't know what you are talking about: Shut-up (that goes for all the non-programmers and those not involved in the project in here: Shut-up!, and learn)

Since this thread started all i see is a bunch of trolls/n00bs making people waste some precious time...
You guys look like 13 yo kids talking about cars... You guys don't know shit about what you are talking... And anyone whit basic knowledge in programming will realise that you guys make NO SENSE in your speeches.

I have to be honest this thread piss me off deep inside... And for some of you guys you are VERY lucky to hide behind a screen..
I wouldn't be a gentleman....

Why? Because I dared mention a pice of software which has broke the terms of a coding license.
actually it wasn't that you mentioned it, but it was your attitude towards our software licence after I explained.

I edited my post - it was typed in anger. But hey, it's the internet, I'm not going to lose sleep about being abused from behind a keyboard by someone I don't know. I asked you to close the thread Buzz when it became apparent where it was headed but I guess you had your reasons for keeping it open. I guess it's difficult for people - ie non coders - like me to see the issue at stake - nevertheless it's your ball. I don't believe there was any need whatsoever for the savagery behind the post(s) in question but again - that is the nuances of anonymity of the internet. Hey ho.
EDIT: And having read back my initial post - it certainly could have been more respectful to the answer I was given re the issue at stake. Apologies for that.

re: closing the thread - I wanted it to run its course somewhat without coming across as being in control and over moderating. I do think it has run its course now though.

I'm not sure one side was any more "savage" than the other though. I don't see any victims here. In fact I have taken quite an assault myself.
