No, I've been doing it via ethernet. It was working fine on redoing it and plugging the ethernet cables next to each other on the router. I never had any file transfer error or any prompts asking if I want to replace any files.

It sucessfully transfered 9982 files and there were no errors.

Around 6543 queued files left it started to stop working. And since it stopped working I've had 33 failed file transfers. I tried re-connecting and then turning of the xbox and then turning it on and re-conecting again. The xbox is sometimes feezing on the Evo page and the xbox aint showing up on Filezilla, but filezilla is still trying to send the info.

When the transfer is taking place the router flashes where the 2 ethernet cables are plugged in, but that stopped happening when It stopped working.

Is there away I can save the queued files so that when I get it to work I can continue with what is left (there 15.8 gb still queued) and is there away I can try the failed transfer again also.

blighty wrote:Filezilla is set by default to use more than 1 connection, might be the problem? i forget what the max amount of files in a folder is on xbox ( think it is 4096 )but with large rom sets you will easy encounter this barrier, can't imagine it is file names too long either but worth a look ( 42 character max )
I tried to delete half the files and re copying over from the folder where it seemed to start having problems but still the same.

I get connection timed out, file transfer failed. My xbox also freezes, I hear the hd make a noise and when I touch the pad nothing moves. I can hear the hd every now and then. I think when it tries to connect.

When I highlight all the files in the Games1 folder I set up on the xbox it says "117 files selected and 60 directories. Total size 1,936,934,100 bytes"

Should I try deviding the folders? can I seperate the Roms etc? or should I try a different ftp program or could it be my harddrive?

EDIT: I unplugged the xbox router cable from the router and the xbox unfrooze. Plugged it back in and the xbox frooze again, filezilla is constanly trying to send files though.

Looking at the Failed Transfers log most say

Timeout
Disconnected from the server
Could not start the transfer

I just tried to make a tvShow folder on the F drive and transfer some TV shows I had. There was 24 shows in 1 folder I tried to copy over so far 17 have failed.

What could the problem be as that wont be exceding the file limit. This is doing my head in I've been trying to do this xbox for so long.

Have you tried using a different FTP client?

Could be the filename is too long or has special characters in it. If you FTP into XBMC4Xbox rather than than Evox/UnleashX it should shorten the names automatically for you. When FTP'ing large files such as videos I always use XBMC4Xbox, I only use UnleashX for games where there's lots of small files so you can set it to 10x connections. If you try and copy over 10x video files you're not gaining anything and run the risk of it failing half way through and having to start again - it can only upload at a certain speed so just let it do one or two at a time.

Hi, when you say ftp in xbmx4xbox do you mean I should load up XMBC and then do the ftp, whilst it is on the xbmc main menu?

I think that you have put CoinOps on your xboxes before, were you able to keep the whole Coinops folder in one folder when you transferred via ftp to your xbox harddrive? I just ask as somebody mentioned a few posts ago that it could be that the folder has to many files.

I think when I try the next to transfer something I will make up a small text file and give it a short name and see if it goes over to the xbox.

Thanks for the replies everybody.

I'm pretty sure that the CoinOps releases are designed to be used "as is" without needing the user to divide things into smaller folders. It's designed to be used on an Xbox so I'm 99% sure that the files and directories are Xbox-compliant.

There have been a lot more rom packs added for coinops that don't come with the full build - these will take you over the filelimit but I think there is now a version of Coinops that has added extra folders for support with more roms. Not tried it yet but it's on my todo list along with a whole load more stuff!

Exactly mate, load up xbmc and then ftp your movies/tv shows in. If you're ftp'ing something with lots of small files like Coinops then UnleashX/Evox would be a lot quicker but with large files it's best to just use xbmc as it will shorten any oversized filenames for you.

Are you sure your hdd hasn't taken any large whacks? Don't want to worry you but you hdd could be fubar'd?

You can test this by just copying files and folders that are already on you hdd to new folders on the same drive & fill it up past the point where you are having trouble.
