Lol :) I'm old skool man :) these anti tamper bolts have been around for years, just check what holds the ignition barrel onto any motorbike in the last 35+ years.

if i don't have the tool, i will make one, thats why I have lathes and mills and pillar drills :D

just realized that I now have 3 un finished projects, 2x xbox's and a hyper neo geo 64 consolisation.

you've yet to build your self a water cooled xbox :P

The tools are for building motorbikes & i'm not trying to reinvent the wheel, I'm just to lazy to go to the shops to buy something i could make or get around,
most of my creativity happens well past midnight for a start anyway. Lol

Yeah. Trying to figure out if I want to light it up, and with that, whether or not to use translucent paint due to that. Being that I'm savvy in auto electrical, and that most of the xbox is 12v or 5v, adding a unique lighting scheme may be in the cards. Hell, I may paint the living room one to resemble Batman, and make it where the light coming thru the jewel casts a bat signal on ceiling. To be cute, I would put a toggle switch on box for the lights (on all xboxes) for the nights where you don't want floodlights. Shouldn't be too hard.

I like the idea of a bat sign on the ceiling. I had this happen to me on accident once, i cleared out an xbox jewel and lit it up SUPER bright and sure enough it said XBOX on my ceiling. DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gentlemen,

I have acquired all the parts that I am going to need in order to do my Batsignal Xbox mod. I will begin working on it early next week since Thanksgiving here in the US is this Thursday. For all the Americans, I just want to say happy thanksgiving! I just can't wait to watch the Lions lose again. Be safe travelling.

Ports LED: http://www.xbmc4xbox.org.uk/forum/viewt ... f=14&t=194
USB port: http://www.xbmc4xbox.org.uk/forum/viewt ... ?f=13&t=70
Adding an LCD is a bit more complicated, you need a modchip that support LCD (X3, SmartXX, Aladdin XT 4064 and a couple rare other).

xman wrote:Just for the sack of clarity, the bolts with the pin in the center are called "anti tamper torx"
The bolts without the pin are called "torx"
and a normal hex headed is an "allen"
The pin idea come about in an attempt to stop people using just an allen key on torx heads. I have in the past hit the pin in the center sideways with a pin punch once or twice to snap the pin out clean when I haven't had the anti tamper head to suit the bolt but don't do this if the screws are still holding the mother board, you do need to hit the pin quite hard.
i just use a flate blade screw driver and twist it and they usually break off

My new desk Xbox. :)
  • X3CE
  • X3CP
  • 128MB RAM upgrade
  • 500GB IDE HDD
  • Internal IR receiver with a DPDT switch to switch IR ~ gameport 4 /USB B.
Thanks to xman and Nextelhalo. (ideas, knowledge, parts)

There is an error on this picture.
I decided to use a left side game ports on the right to have more wire length.. guess what.. I forgot to grab a second left side one and installed my led (for the left side) in a right side one. ^^
Wires where too short, I had to do it again.
Image
1/8 watt resistors and white LEDs.
Image
A very small file was used to oversize an already existing hole to install the switch on the X3CP.
Image
Hot melt glue was used to stick the switch in place.
Image
I had to make the switch a bit shorter to clear the ground. (Not on picture)
Image
The metal shield was modded to have a better airflow and remove the stress on any added wires.
Image
Slideshow of the holes.
Image
Everything is modular, no troubles when /if I need to take apart the Xbox.
Image
Its very important to not pinch or shave any wires.

D0 / LAN / HDD

Xbox modders pr0n !

A good bath, all clean.
