Ok,
I have it installed and seems to be working with some tv shows... but no movies work. My son would like a different skin. what addon can i use for different skins?

For the time being you could try XAI, I just had a look at the repositories and there's no reason why the skins section shouldn't still work even though I've stopped working on the project. You'll have to download XAI from the official thread on the forum and ftp it over.

I think the boys are going to look at adding a skins section to A4X installer, don't quote me on that but I seem to recall someone mentioning it. Anyway let me know if the skins section is still working on XAI, if it's not I'll take a look and see if I can sort it out.

I'm not able to get xbmc to be the default dash board. I'm sorry for being such a newb... can you you help?

Try using the XBMC SVN installer to set XBMC as your default dashboard.

Thanks angelb, but that part is covered by another wiki page - XBMC SVN Installer simply updates those configuration files to point to a new build, but won't install the actual shortcut program required to make it work.
