Possible to change a game's controller settings via hex editing or in-game files?

Does anyone know if it's possible to change a game's pre-set xbox control settings via say .XBE editing or other in-game files?

For instance Worms 3D has the worst camera controls I've ever seen (back to front left and right, and no option to change it or the vertical directions). I saw reference to the different controller buttons in the .XBE but the information was limited.
