Greetings, newbie here...so don't be too hard on me.
I used a softmod to put unleash x on my old original xbox. I am trying to upgrade the hard drive now and tried using chimp2618 from this site and Rocky5/chimp 261812, and have been following online tutorials. I checked my hard-drive, Western digital 160gb(1600JB) in the compatibility list as well.
My problem is when I run Fatx it starts to boot...then fails when checking/loading initrd. I never even get to an options menu in Fatx where I can check to see if its reading both my factory hard drive and new 160 gb hardrive. Sometimes it freezes with a green Starting logo on the bottom. I have pulled the IDE cable out of the dvd drive and plugged it into the new harddrive when the tutorials tell me. Tried it so many different ways my finger literally started to bleed. lol.
I loaded Chimp into the Apps folder in my E drive, and put the boot config file in the root E drive. The new harddrive is used and purchased from amazon and was wiped clean..whatever that means....do I need to format the new harddrive with a pc somehow, or am I installing/running Chimp wrong? Anyone able to help or offer any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Did you use my guide in the signature? You should have no issues viewing both drives and if they are operating. Also, did you set your jumpers for one to be master and one slave?

Re: Help cloning hardrive with Chimp
@mrmajikbus45, I didn't try the guide your sig. I have been trying to just ftp Chimp 261812 to my apps, following Rocky5's How to clone your Hard drive using Chimp 261812 from start to finish on Youtube. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBC9599ww6I)
I did set the new harddrive to slave and the factory one to master with slave.
I get this error:
Chimp Loader v1.01
Booting Chimp 261812...
Boot:Loading kernel '/apps/chimp,'linux26'.. (ok)
Boot: Loading initrd '/apps/chimp,'initrd.gz'.... (!!)
It has a prompt for when to swap the ide ribbon, so I know that not the hold up. And I can hear that the new hard drive has power
So the Slayer disc will help me run Chimp? I can't run the Chimp loader I ftp into my E partition?
Thanks a ton for your help.

Re: Help cloning hardrive with Chimp
Replied on the other forum, it's due to what ever program you used to extract the files from the zip, extracting the initrd.gz file.

Problem fixed. Turned out I had to edit the cfg file via notepad to edit the config.cfg and remove .gz.

Glad you figured it out. I do not reply as fast as Rocky these days, but that was the other solution. Rule out user error first, lol.
