After some time away from home hacking and XBOX stuff, I finally got around to trying the new iPlayerWWW Addon for Kodi (initially on my Acer Revo and on my RPi) which works satisfactorily. So that's great work. It's available in the default Kodi repo so no searching or special installation method needed.

I thought I'd search out the Zip file for it, and try it on the X80X. It works!
The files are here:
https://github.com/vonH/plugin.video.iplayerwww

Specific download for latest zip here:
https://github.com/vonH/plugin.video.ip ... master.zip
FTP the zip file somewhere on your X80X hard drive and then use Addons4XBOX installer to install it.

Huzzah!

ive been using the older iplayer from the xunity talk repo for the last few months, not as many features but it worked none the less. is this a better version?

i have a few plugins that are the same, new / newest version not working but old versions that do, the soundcloud plugin is another example of this off the top of my head

Somewhat annoyingly, a lot of content is 720p and therefore refuses to play the video stream (only playing the audio stream) on X80X.
No obvious way to set the add-on (plugin) to ask BBC servers to supply a lower quality stream. :-(

I recently updated to version 0.2.8 (http://xty.me/xunitytalk/addons/plugin. ... bciplayer/ latest at time of writing).

Although I haven't used it for a while, it doesn't seem to work as it used to. After selecting the telly programme/episode of choice, there's no further choice of sources/resolution/bitrate, it simply offers the file/episode/programme to play - and plays it at a low resolution, 640x480.

1. Do any of you know the right place to ask questions about this plugin?
2. Does anyone around here use it and have any insight, or shared experience?

Update:

I found the solution to the low resolution issue.
It appears that the "autoplay" option is now enabled by default in settings.xml.
This plays a low resolution stream by default, and prevents access to the list of various bitrate streams from which the user can choose.

Setting the autoplay property to false restores the choice, and one can happily play 1500kbps 'medium' definition streams again.
Note that the X80X can just about play the 3200kbps (720p) streams but the level of frame drops (as with any 720p H.264 video) is unacceptable.

It looks like iPlayer got changed again, so an updated plug-in is needed.

I see that the xunity web site is off-line (although the server can be pinged). Does anyone know whether that is a temporary glitch or a permanent situation?

Xunity is dead, NaN were asked to take this addon on. You can get it from the noobsandnerds repo

Lee,

I'll need this explaining to me only once. :-)

On my PC:
I found the NaN repo http://noobsandnerds.com/portal/*REPOSITORY%20PORTAL/
Downloaded and then FTP'd the noobsandnerdsrepo zip file to my XBOX.

Then, on my XBOX:
From the Addons4XBMC4XBOX plug-in I added the nan repo using the zip file I'd FTP'd. Great.
Then, from the Addons4XBMC4XBOX plug-in I can go and look in the nonbsandnerds repository and find the Video Add-ons. Still good.
Here's where I'm stuck - there are only 5 Video Add-ons in the list (incl. The Red Pill and SportsDevil Launcher), none of which is BBCiPlayer. Not good. :-(

What am I doing wrong? Happy (as always) to be pointed at a thread/tut to try to work my way through it. :-)

...or indeed if anyone can point me at the location of the Add-on's source code?

Ah yeah that's right I don't think XBMC4Xbox allows for multiple directories in the repo addon.xml file. The way the NaN repo works is it hooks into different devs repos and they are auto populated in Kodi.

You'll want to install the Catchup4Kodi repo which has this on there, it also has the UKPlay (Dave, Yesterday etc.) and ITV Player add-ons.

Please let me know if it works on Xbox, I think it should. I'm currently still homeless waiting for my house purchase to go through so Xbox still in storage :(

Oops forgot to say you'll find that repo in the same source you found the NaN repo :)

Thanks for the quick response, Lee.
I did wonder whether it might be about nested repos, so I made a guess that I might find it in the Catchup4Kodi repo (thanks for confirming I'm on the right track), and installed that. No luck. The Video Add-ons list for the Catchup4Kodi repo has zero entries in the list - it's blank.

...good luck with the house purchase stuff (from memory you live in Essex, sort of Dagenham way).

That's very weird it's not showing, I'm looking forward to finally moving so I can do some Xbox testing again.

If you want to download it directly you can grab it from here:
https://github.com/catchup4kodi/catchup ... aster/zips

By the way, good memory there and thanks for the good luck wishes - think I need them lol.
Yes I am in Essex, bit further out of London than Dagenham but yes not a million miles away :)
