Happy New Year Everyone!! I'm fairly new to the forums and new to trying to participate in the community. I've been using XBMC for long enough to be dangerous.

I scan the forums a few times every month. I will try to step in and help folks when I can but I'm not an expert by any means. I've been working with computers since I got my Atari 400 about 34 years ago. We have come a long way, but for me the fun never left any of the old gaming systems. That fist XBOX still creates a lot of good times!

Ever since I lost all my Xbox related stuff - for the second time - when I, inadvertently but stupidly, burnt two 2TB HDD, I lost my interest

Long story short: built a new pc and connected the 2 HDDs to a power supply (corsair) with the cables from another power supply (thermaltake). It wasn't until I couldn't get the HDDs to boot that I realized the cables were different. I suppose I should have payed more attention to the burning smell. :)

Right next to the power plug there is usually two tvs diodes in the event of incorrect voltage applied to the power plug their idea is to short out and sink the voltage so it wont harm the logic board.
more info here:
https://community.wd.com/t/hdd-tvs-diode-faq/14692

You may just be able to desolder them and away you go and or possibly replace the fusable links.

If the pcb is fried you can get identical pcb's from ebay you can remove the eeprom and place it on the new board and away you go as it has the headstack calabration data etc to access the system (firmware) area of the drive that is required to make it go.
More info here on board swap's here:
http://www.hddzone.com/western_digital_ ... guide.html

Some boards have the eeprom embedded in the MCU and if it is fried you are out of luck without a rework station or tools to recreate the eeprom data.

It may be a cheap easy fix!!!! as it is very unlikely the head stack amp has been damaged.

Well, I for the most part have moved on from the old Xbox. I still have one around for gaming and the like, but I have some FireTV boxes that do what the old girl can do, but better. It is sad to me as this was one of the greatest projects that I had run across for ages. Unfortunately, I do not see much more in the future for the XBox. It has allowed me to make some friends, and for that I am grateful.

I still lurk from time to time. Check to see if there's new scripts or if there's newbies looking for help. Etc. It's between here and the assembler forums. There's a thread over there gaining trtraction about getting Xbox Live going on the original Xbox again. If that takes off, who knows, maybe x4x might see more users and activity.

Thx to mods for keeping the boards squeaky clean. Spam usually doesn't stay up for long around here. :D

Figured I would revive an old dead thread.

Shown up a few times in the TeamSpeak, and no one is around. Kinda miss you bastards.

I'm always around, mostly deleting spam lol. Got very little free time tho, between life and my new hobby, 3D printing. :)
Since I moved I have an office and a lab, the lab is a mostly social network free space and I spend most of my free time there.
You have to idle for long periods to catch convos on teamspeak. Pretty much every time you came on TS recently I was there 30-90 minutes later.
Last time you were there 2 days ago, I was there but you only stayed connected for a few seconds, I could't even type anything and you were gone.
Tho, TBH, TS is pretty much dead beside xman and me.
Also (will) sent you a PM.

I was last active here like 3 years ago

During that time I haven't played around with Xboxes that much, but that's about to change because I've got a new Xbox project going on.

Missed the forums and all of you. I'll try to be more active this time :D

I get the feeling that I'm not going to get much help on here :|
