[POLL] Skin Final Name: Xbox Extended

Greetings,

The purpose of this poll is to get user feedback - which hopefully may be better than actual skin's feedback - with regards to the final name of the above referenced skin. The fact of the matter is that, regretably, the "Xbox Media Center (XBMC)" software is nearing its inevitable end and the chances of new skins being made for it are slim to none... Therefore I'd like to make sure that this skin is properly named.

Most of us, still in the scene, should be aware that xbmc was originally developed for the original xbox; another way of putting this is that the "origins" of xbmc is the xbox!

As a tribute - and because I kind of liked the mixture of the Xbox 360 and Xbox One interface - I created this skin. For the reasons previously stated, I really like the name "Xbmc Origins"... truth be told, I'd would love nothing more than to rename the project "XBMC Origins!", alas, it's not my choice (BuZz is being a weenie :evil: about it!); ok, ok, he does have his reasons and they're legit. :D

Anyway, the point is, I want to get feedback on renaming the skin; I my self would like to rename it to "Xbmc Origins" and I'm sure you can see why, but I'd like to get some opinions.

Why not XBMC One ?

The interface is based on XBOX One,
The codes are from XBMC,
And it is for the first ever XBOX.
So XBMC One

Thanks, I just made my vote.

I think you can remove XBox Extended from the poll.
Cause there is a remote for the xbox called Media Center Extender for Xbox.
And then there is the X-Tender Xbox Case Extender by Farmer.
So to not make it too confusing.

ok. My bad.. I thought it would be really funny to add another option, and it bloody blanked the previous votes.

I suck. I shall banish myself from the forum now.

seems adding/removing options removes all previous votes, so your edition/edit would have done the same too. that's a really crappy phpbb feature!

@RoyalX... since that's the original name, for now I'll just leave it as it is; we'll see at the end what the poll suggests... this, of course, is predicated under the assumption that BuZz stays away from resetting the freaking votes! :evil:

@BuZz... yeah, it happened to me too, so don't feel bad about :D

It does that on a lot of forums it some it wipes the view count on pictures and posts too.

What about "THE XBMC" or " THE XBOX MEDIA CENTER" ?
I know it's kinda cliche but I think it sounds nice.
project media center "part one" (working progress): 6tb trusty 1.4ghz + 128mb v1.4 Xbox water cooled pc case with xenium ice, LCD, HDMI out and optical out.

xbmc origins gets my vote makes sense really since the skin always said that when you boot it up and it sounds good

its all good so long as you dont turn traitor and name it kodi :lol:

"XBMC" is the program.

"Origins" should therefore be the skin name, so as not to be redundant. The logo and splash images (which look great) all can remain unaltered this way, too.

It is a bold maneuver to start taking over the newly abandoned XBMC namespace, too. I personally would like to lose the (4Xbox) caveat eventually and go back to a more minimalistic branding.

I like to criticize everything when possible.

I thaught of indigenous but that seems to remind me of people wearing grass skirts chanting around a fire.

XBMC Origins! does have a certain sound to it, in my opinion; and no, no Kodi here... not that there's anything wrong with it.

We're not taking over the "abandoned" XBMC namespace, we've always used that, we just added "4Xbox" that's all; besides, it's not the name of the project itself, just the skin.

I meant ability to display box art, game background, text synopsis (and ability to play video preview?) in the same way it is shown on the 360 and One.
