In XBMC. check System info > Network, if it's online, you should see Conneceted. The easiest method to setup up probably, is using DHCP.

1. What are you trying to do which you cannot get to work in xbmc?
2. What's the make and model of the box to which you've connected the xbox with the Ethernet cable?

If you're unable to use XBMC in general, then what exactly happens when the Xbox is powered on?

It really would be best if you could do it yourself for future updates etc , I am sure we could spoonfeed you through the update process :-) its not that bad to do really .
First thing do you have access to a laptop or desktop ?

We're a patient bunch.

Let's start off...Get your laptop, start your web browser, go to https://filezilla-project.org/download.php?show_all=1 download and install the version for your laptop's operating system.

Okay, let's find out exactly what you did.
1. from where did you download a new v3.5 ?
2. did you unzip the downloaded 3.5 onto your laptop's hard drive?
3. did you then use filezilla to copy the unzipped 3.5 onto your xbox hard drive?
4. if so, what folder have you put the new 3.5 XBMC in on your xbox?

Sparky , you will get there , now switch on your Xbox connected to your network and go to settings and find its IP address , something like this 192.168.2.1 and write it down , then go go your PC open up fileziller and use these instructions
http://www.xbmc4xbox.org.uk/wiki/HOW-TO ... _a_network
Report back :-)
