Is this project still alive?

Post by GCJohnsonChev »

Is this project still alive..? or did everyone move to development on the XBOX 360?

I wanted to announce I have a script I wrote that downloads all of the emulators, plugins, add-ons, etc ever made from source and then it grabs the XBMC4XBOX package and organizes everything in a super neat and clean file system for uploading directly to the XBOX via FTP Protocol. It does everything required to get the perfect XBMC4XBOX setup. This saves the hacker days and days of work. Depending on internet connection speed it only takes a few hours to download the whopping 10 GB of files. It's best if you have an XBOX already setup with UnleashX and a large hard drive swapped out / cloned. I recommend the 750 gigabyte Western Digital with an overclocked ribbon cable with the highest megahertz transfer speed. The script runs on Linux, BSD, etc. terminal.
I put no stock in religion. By the word Religion I have seen the lunacy of fanatics of every denomination be called the Will of God. I have seen religion in the eyes of too many murderers. Holiness is in right action.

It's definitely not as active as it was, but there's still a few of us lingering around. ;)
There isn't really active development on the main project, but people still submit scripts and themes every once in a while. And, if something breaks, there's still folks around to help fix it. I think the last thing to break was the TVDB scraper, which got fixed pretty quickly.

Anyways, yeah feel free to share here. If you want to create awareness, some other Xbox communities that are still active include this subreddit, AssemblerGames, and ogxbox.com.

I'm curious though, does it allow you to limit what is downloaded? In case the user doesn't want emulators, for example?

Awesome, I just subscribed to that Reddit Community. No, the script doesn't provide that option, but I can write in some new options for that.

Oh, have you ever saw the "new" xbmc4gamers and xbmc emustation projects?
That are based on xbmc4xbox and add a lot of more features. :D

If you are looking to get into dev on the Xbox these days you want to checkout the discord group it is where everyone hangs out.
Here is the invite link: https://discord.gg/WxJPPyz

The devs are moving all projects there and some useful resources are below.

https://xboxdevwiki.net
http://github.com/xboxdev

Please read the rules in the invite link, just so you are aware this project and the Xbox dev project have strict rules on piracy.

One of the most active original Xbox group right now AFAIK is the ogxbox.com Facebook group.
