[Feature Request] AAC encoding for music CDs

Post by Redneck9 »

Would it be possilbe to add "AAC" encoding in addition to mp3,flac, wav & vorbis?

I would find this quite useful for all of my audio encoding needs, as now many new portable music players now support this codec and is pretty much on the verge of totally replacing mp3.

I like the idea if it is easy to implement. Maybe add it as a feature request to the bug tracker located at the top "development" link. That way it is easy for Buzz or anyone else to keep track of and prioritize it.

Sorry, but I have zero interest in even looking into this. Don't think there are any decent GPL/LGPL AAC encoders anyway. Want high quality - use FLAC (losslesss) or OGG or higher bitrate mp3.

or encode on a PC :) using XBOX to encode is pretty insane anyway imho (slow, unreliable drives unless replaced, slow, did I mention slow?)

The drive's quite slow by modern standards too. Just thought I'd mention.

Might be of use to someone with an X80X but without ready access to a PC, if such an individual exists.

Simple Enough.

Will you atleast look into adding the following to PAPlayer?

.3gp containers that will hold .aac codec? (this is the way playsation 3 encodes aac audio direct from the CD)
I know PAPlayer won't play these, however DVDPlayer will.

Which containers can PAPlayer open? mp4, mp2, avi ect...

.aac codec extension stand alone(does play with PAPlayer)
