Done :-)

Consider my report here purely for the benefit of the (surely) millions of mythtv users who use an xbmc4xbox frontend player.

If so, thanks for the personal favour! But I'm convinced that's not the case. Perhaps it's just that all the millions of other users are otherwise occupied with, I dunno, Faceache or whatever.

:D

I forgot to ask (i would post on the bugtracker but since I closed the bug), do live streams work? I had problems with them on my "test setup", but it could have been the codec that was being produced. I had massive headaches getting mythtv here not to crash constantly when testing with my ancient analogue tv card. certainly the default MJPG in NUV on the live streams were not liked by xbmc4xbox. not that I think I can do much about that anyway.

Yep, the ~50 SD DVB-T channels from Hannington, and the hundreds-and-hundreds of SD DVB-S channels from the Astra constellation seem to be playing live just fine.

I willl set this up eventually, thank you for sorting this out guys. :) It's just a matter of getting my MythTV backend configured properly. I've switched between a lot of backends lately. So much work around this tiny apartment I'm afraid it's burying me alive

Sorry, I drafted a response to confirm it was working a week or more ago already -- must have never submitted it. :?

XBMC seemed to keep up with my Frodo install. However, I'm not really set up correctly on the backend. I need to figure out how to transcode/downscale the recordings from 1080i to 480p for space constraint and network reasons.

Regarding the video/quality and Myth backend, I'm not too sure where to start. Any helpful pointers on how I might scale down my videos as they record? Is this even possible "on-the-fly" for LiveTV?

My testing setup looks like this:
XBMC4XBOX: svn 31747
Master backend: MythTV installed on vanilla Precise (apt-get mythbuntu-control-center).
Recording card: Hauppauge HVR-1600
Windows XBMC client for comparison: v12.1 Frodo

Currently my results are poor - Live TV seems like its barely keeping up. Recordings work, aside from 1080i. This situation should be rectified so I can further test performance..

Pointers, tips or corrections appreciated. I'll entertain any specific testing requests as well - I have 4 XBOXes and extra computers laying around if needed for alternate configs.

Thankyou for your continued work, I vow to be more vigilant in testing and feedback.
[I'll test Confluence Lite on varying displays/resolutions soon -- until then I'll look into this Recordings transcoder business myself :P]

One of the main reasons I pulled the latest SVN build was because of this feature, however I did not see MythTV anywhere within XBMC. I am familiar with the MythTV plugin for XBMC on pc however I see no way to enable it on the xbox. I did see HDhomerun though.

All my channels are OTA so I seriously doubt be able to use it for anything other than my low res station. I am still very instersted in trying it becuase this feature has not been updated in years.

It's not a plugin, support for myth protocol is native. Set up a video source pointing at myth://yourmythbackendaddress.

Does this still work with mythtv .27? I followed this guide but I can't get it going. http://www.xbmc4xbox.org.uk/wiki/MythTV
I'm running 3.3.3.

Hmmm, I'm using v0.25.2 on Mythbuntu v12.04. That works, but can't comment on v0.27.

Not much in the log. Any idea what else I could try? I can reach mythtv at that same IP address on another openelec machine. Looks like the protocol has changed from .25 http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Category:Myth_Protocol. Not sure if that would cause a problem.

mythbox plugin in repo only supports to like 24.. You will have to find one on git and build that will work if you want to use 27.. I am stuck in the same boat. The addon I built that works on xbmc linux machine wont install on xbox it says unsupported install impossible. I have seen a few other builds of pvr addon just have to find one that is supported on xbox and compatible with 27 I guess.
