Hey guys most of the wiki is still available on the google cache (from only a month or two ago in most instances) there is only a very FEW articles that have been cached already with the "hosting support" page, so we will have to get them from the wayback machine I guess..

But the thing is if we all help to do this now, we will get all the most up to date pages off the google cache right now!! and save them so we at least have the information.. Now ive actually already got the first 70 pages off the google cache and then realised I had email from xman!!!, So im thinking if we work together this wont take long...

I am up to page 8 right now If someone else can start at page 10 and go to 15, and another at page 15 to 20, and so on we can have this done very soon....... Any volunteers???

https://www.google.com.au/search?q=site ... 80&bih=685

Just open EVERY one (EVEN IF THE "PREVIEW" IS OF THE GODADDY HOSTING PAGE) Because ive found that about 90% of the ones that have a godaddy hosting page preview still have the cache...

But we will loose these fast if others dont help, there is 1150 hits to cover and im only up to about 70.............

Thanks! looks like we can get some data from the xbmc wiki too - thanks to them :) - I could import the xml from them up to a certain date, and then use the google cache archives to bring in any differences.

godaddy are crap - they are too clueless to send a 503 http code with the "site being switched off redirect" which would stop the search engines from indexing the holding page. However, hopefully google will be smart enough not to index the redirects. we shall see.

Well does it matter at all? I spent ages doing this..LOL I hope it helps.. (this is all the google cache results from page 1-10, thats including ALL of page 10) so if anyoone wants to do this as well it'd be great to start from page 11...

Google has already lost 2 cache's they dont have the cache for both these pages... But these are the only 2 from the bunch ive already done..

This is what I have done so far...

Is there any point me doing this?

Well when I say they have 'lost' the caches, they just dont exist as a google cache at all, they simply dont have the 'cache' link there so I guess maybe they were not cache'd in the first place, although I was also considering that maybe google spider has just deleted that cache from their servers when they hit the godaddy brick wall and realised the page was gone now, im not sure if it works like that but it would be a real shame if they all just started to dissapear from the server thats all..

The wayback machine has a good cache of the site, someone that can use website downloader programs might be able to rip the entire thing from there, or at least the most up to date archive of whatevers missing.....

it certainly isnt a waste of time - even if we restore the wiki from the xbmc wiki, there will be xbmc4xbox specific stuff that is only in the wayback machine/google cache. the more data we have to reconstruct the better - your work is not in vain :) thanks

ok well just like Joe Dirt ill keep on keeping on..

Starting on pages 11-20 now and ill check back here after I finish in a hr or 2..lol.. If someone wants to pick up from even just 21-25 that would be great just check out what I did already it should make it pretty easy to see what to do.. Ill just keep plotting along and get what I can..

The main thing missing is all the photos/screenshots, i also tried to dig up a cache of the main forum page for you but unfortunately im a meticulous user of ccleaner so I hope someone else :(

I tried a program called HTTrack, and also "website downloader for windows"

With website downloader, I can download each individual cache page if I manually input all the links.. I was just trying to find a way to automatically download all of the links from the google results page (basically download the google results page and then all the links from there) but couldnt get it to work..

Would it be better to have it downloaded through a program like that or it doesnt matter? I figured it would probably take same time either way for me and I would probably find I get through half the links and then it stuffs up or something so I was just going to do it the way I knew was certain to work..lol

Also I found this all I can say is WTF... ?????? Acne?? LOOL

Welll.....

After finding that ACNE wiki page it has me thinking if the website is down for another reason?
???

" It is a snapshot of the page as it appeared on 23 Jun 2012 06:18:27 GMT"

Check when it was turned into the acne page....

Any thoughts.. Maybe the site was actually compromised..????

Well when I say compromised I mean is it possible that someone has added illegal info (even if it were just to the wiki) thus forcing godaddy to pull hosting?.... Its also even possible that someone hacked the site and uploaded illegal stuff onto the servers?

Its just really strange that someone added this acne page..

stupid me I just realised its much quicker and easier to just right click on the 'cache' link and 'save as' and then just copy paste the page name there so they dont get out of order,, saves as a .htm then...

Im going to start doing this I reason I can do all 1000+ cache hits in only a few hours... Ill upload my RAR of all the pages when Im done so incase warrick misses anything or whatever at least we have another backup.. :)

Coffee/Smoke time.. :D

The wiki wasnt looked after well, and got spammed for months before it was locked down, so a lot of pages still contained spam.

How about looking into your own browser cache? (for chrome is "about:cache")(Youve probably already done it but I didnt see any mention of your own) I had a quick peek in mine and found very little stuff, but thats because i didnt go onto xbmc4xbox.org very often. I found some tiny pictures and 2 javascript things and a couple css files so you might find alot in yours.

fair enough, so these are all spam from months ago??

http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/s ... clnk&gl=au

These strange ones are ones im finding now i wonder what else im going to find the more I look..

By the way I was wrong.. all right clicking on the 'cache' link does is save the link as htm, you have to open the actual page and click 'save as' and save as whole page, which im getting through quickly but there are apparently 1000 cached (pages of results) not individual results like I thought before..LOL... Ill get there eventually i guess.

Hows your thing going did it download many of them?

a custom q/a captcha stops most of it + email validation. I run two wikis already and they do not suffer from massive spamming (http://www.exotica.org.uk and http://www.jogglerwiki.com).

before when the wiki was being spammed, i asked for database level access, but it never was forthcoming. Eventually a captcha was added and the spamming stopped. unfortunately by that time the wiki had been seriously damaged and need a lot of manual reverting.

Well ive finally finished saving every single cache page found with google search

site:xbmc4xbox.org xbmc4xbox wiki

(http://www.google.com.au/webhp?sourceid ... 22&bih=761)

Here are all of them, there are some cache'd spam pages, but most of them should be easy to weed out. I really cant be bothered right now, its only 6am but I think I need a beer already wow what a lot of clicking and saving... :D...

http://www.filedropper.com/xbmc4xboxwholepages

Is there anything ive missed? In hindsight I should have got rid of the "xbmc4xbox" from my search since it was already just that site anyways I didnt realise until now after ive done all 300 or so pages..LOL..

I hope it helps if theres anything else I can do just let me know
