Request to adapt to XBOX: XBMC Subtitles

Post by eXcEeDe »

I wonder if skatulskijean could look at XBMC Subtitles by Amet and see if it can be ported? I tried to run the 2.3.9 version found here: https://github.com/amet/script.xbmc.subtitles/downloads on XBMC 3.1 Stable. It lists subtitles found at opensubtitles.org but can't seem to show them.
It won't list subtitles on swesub.nu and Undertexter.se, the services I'm really interested in.

Is this possible?

OK, sorry about the post, I'll post inside your thread in the future.
Will you make some kind of announcement here on the forum when it is done?
By the way, I installed your excellent 'Jan'sEnglishXBMC4XBOX V.2.1' thinking it might run better on that but curiously enough it would not start there as it dit on the 3.1 stable. Will XBMC Subtitles need two different types of coding to work on both those builds? Anyhow, I'll stick to your build from now on. :)

And when you like my build please make a donate for xbmc4xbox!
EDIT1
Please Test https://dl.dropbox.com/u/83714583/XBMC%20Subtitles.zip is the last Version 3.30 have a very little change that run on xbmc4xbox .
You must switch to a liighter skin PM3 or Mosaic .

Also try the OpenSubtitles and Sublight plugins from SVN Repo Installer > xbmc4xbox > plugins > video.

Just a heads up, my XBMC Eden automatically updated to the latest version of XBMC Subtitles yesterday so there must be a new one out. Might be worth trying, you'll find it on the offiial XBMC Repo - don't know if addons4xbox installer is still working or not but that would install it. If it works let me know and I'll add it to XAI.

Ok that's good, I wasn't sure you had the latest one as your post was at 11:55am and my XBMC Eden didn't update the Subtitles addon until later that evening :)

Hi, and thanks for your attention!

I found XBMC Subtitles on XAI tonight so I tried an install. It did not work on 'Jan'sEnglishXBMC4XBOX V.2.1', I simply get script error again. Might work on 3.1 Stable though, I have not tried.

A great improvement! But still some issues.

I tried:

1. Watching "Adventures of Tintin" from SMB Share. Result=Success, subtiles downloaded from undertexter.se and displayed properly :D
2. Watching "Watchmen" from the same SMB share. Result= Failure, XMBC Subtitles just hangs on "Downloading subtitles", after a while I have to press Back button...
3. Watching "Adventures of Tintin" via Navi-X. When pressing OSD Subtitle button I get "Script error" message.
4. Watching "Se7en" via Icefilms plugin. This has previously triggerd the same result as in Navi-X but this time I couldn't get the movie to start. Did not bother with it as I alredy produced the relevant error, though.

I tried thes a number of times before activating logging, so its not a one time event.

First that is not the momently up to date main xbmc script!

Install :
1) Download and Ftp the zip to your xbox!
2) Open the Filmanager from xbmc4xbox go to xbmc/scripts/ on one site of the Filemanager
3) On the other Site of the Filemanager go to the zip (that what you have downloaded and with ftp put it on your Xbox)
4) select the zip and press a . You see a new Folder .Select this Folder and press the wite Button on your Controller!
5) You see a new menu go to copy and press A on the Controller!

this have unzipped the zip to your Script-Folder!

Go to script with xbmc4xbox (not with the Filemanager)
Select XBMCSubtitles and Press the wite Button on you Controller , select the Script settings press A and make your Settings!
Go to System/settings Skin / Addon/ and Select under Video osd Sutitles script the default.py from XBMCSutitles script!
Example E/XBMC/scripts/XBMCSutitles /default.py

Have Fun

Regards Jan ;)

I installed it following your instructions and ran it but still getting script failed error. Is it worth me putting a debug log up here?
