Youtube VP8 Codec Change Question.

Post by Redneck9 »

Youtube plugin's "SD Only" setting is now calling on LQ VP8 video/vorbis audio coded videos.(Which can only be played w/DVDPlayer full codec support enabled) and LQ h.264 640x360 videos which mplayer can now play. There are also VLQ flv videos.

The vp8 files have replaced the HQ 870x480 h.264 videos, also the h.264 640x360 replaced 360x360 flv videos.

When youtube plugin is set to "ask" it will now play h.264 videos(which can now be played w/MPlayer, for a while there weren't any h.264 videos Mplayer could handle)

here is a Log:

Will someone perhaps update the plugin quality settings to be more descriptive? Like listing file types?

-current inaccurate quality list-

SD Only: vp8 480x360
720p: h.264 1280x720 (won't play on xbox, but so you know)

Ask.
380p: 640x360 h.264
360p: 480x360 vp8
240p: 320x240 flv
144p: 176x144 mpeg-4
