Unable to scan movies from an UPnP Media Server

Post by Sassokee »

Hi all,

I cannot scan any movies from my UPnP Media Server (Synology NAS), the files themselves are accessible and I can play the movies just fine, but adding the movies to the library is not possible at all, it keeps searching but nothing is being downloaded and the movies are not added onto the library...

If I add the same movies through SMB, both scrapers work OK (IMDB and TMDB).

I am running the latest nightly (r33032) and the behaviour was the same with the official release v3.5.3.

Below is my log file:

Thank you, I followed the instructions and below is the debug log, I don't understand why the movie names are in a weird format:

@Sassokee
In the log I see it's querying with the uPnP ids rather than the name. I see you're using 3.6-DEV-r33032.

I assume you've already tried with 3.5.3 and you have the same results? If not, maybe you can download 3.5.3 from the forums (use XBMC4Xbox Installer plugin) and install it next to it (E:\aps\XBMC-3.5.3) and run from File Explorer.

Which uPnP server and version are you using?

Thanks for looking into the logs Dan.

I tried with v3.5.3 prior to v.3.6 DEV and the outcome was the same.

The running server in the back end is the Synology UPnP Media Server. I checked the settings on that front but I couldn't find any specifics to change or to play around with.

I will try another server, my NAS natively supports Docker images and I believe there are some images for UMS.

Many thanks.

Sorry you said you tried with both versions - I don't think there are that many differences between the two.

From what I can see in the log, XBMC4Xbox tries to search TMDB with the uPnP id, not the movie title for some reason - maybe because it could not retrieve one.
Will look a little deeper and come back.

Code: Select all

Interesting feature to support Docker.

Thanks Dan.
I also tried Plex running as an UPnP server on my NAS and the results were the same, the only thing I might try is Plex running on a Windows PC and see if the issue is server or client side.

The debug log, was that when from when the movies where scanned in the database or after, when scrapping them?

If you enable the HTTP server in Networking and run this from your computer browser what is coming back as a result?

Code: Select all

http://YOUR_IP_ADDRESS/xbmcCmds/xbmcHttp?command=queryvideodatabase(select * from movie where idFile=1176)

It was straight after it failed to scan the movies.

I tried http://192.168.100.15/xbmcCmds/xbmcHttp ... eodatabase (My Xbox IP) and I got the following error message on 2 different browsers:

Error:Missing Parameter
