Hi guys I'm new to scene, actually I own a lot of systens old and news but now I just bought a Xbox Classic modded to put it in my bedroom for oldschool games and movies/series.
It's coming, and it already has an older version of XMBC in it and I have 2 doubts:
1 - How do I update XBMC to the actual stable version? Just replace the files on XMBC folder? The actual system already boots on XBMC.
2 - Do you guys use remote controls?? Could you please give me tips of good ones that work with modded xbox's?
Thanks!!

1) yes--------- Make sure to boot to another dash then ftp it over.
2) I just use the original that came with the dvd kit or the controller.

Always root for the team of the guy who supplied the keg!!!!!
Re: Two "newbie"doubts.
1. When you update, DO NOT delete your current installation while it's still running. I once did that and fixing it was a nightmare to figure out. What I do is I boot XBMC into error recovery mode (turn the power on, then hold White+Y) and THEN I delete and replace all the files.
As for obtaining the newest release, 3.1 is out as a torrent. It's a pretty straightforward installation.
2. I agree with Adult Swimmer: the standard Microsoft-issued DVD remote works wonderfully.

Logitech all the way- 300, 515,525 etc. Then you can control the tv and other AV equipment as well. First off your dash/ xbmc files location will depend on the type of mod you have .cirojr wrote:Hi guys I'm new to scene, actually I own a lot of systens old and news but now I just bought a Xbox Classic modded to put it in my bedroom for oldschool games and movies/series.

You might wanna check this out.
ExoBuzz can probably tell you more.
Mainly for turning the console on and off by simply using the remote

regarding remotes:
I use a harmony one - and the http://www.xir.us/ hardware which allows me to power the xbox on/off from the remote control. The harmony remotes can take a little while to set up, and its somewhat annoying I have to use a windows pc to do it, but once set up they work pretty well. The remote codes for the official xbox1 remote are in the database so it is no problem mapping the buttons.

+1 for the XIR and the DVD controller (then get an harmony later, you need the DVD dongle to use an harmony anyway.)

Re: Two "newbie"doubts.
yeh I did but unfortunately concordance never supported my remote previously. although I pop back every few months to see if there is progress. Hadn't see the gui before - looks nice. I guess I should check and see if my remote is supported yet againXphazer wrote:+1 for the XIR and the DVD controller (then get an harmony later, you need the DVD dongle to use an harmony anyway.)

Luckily thanks to things like virtualbox with usb support running windows to program the remote isnt a big deal. I also do xbmc4xbox development in virtualbox (although a lot of the editing in linux, then building in windows).
