Buffering and scraping issues

Post by surlyduff11 »

Please bear with with me if this has been covered already but I have begun having buffering issues when streaming from a local NAS. I am also having an issue with movie scraping.

The above log should show both issues.

This is the old.log that ended in a lockup.

On startup the box automatically scans for new content. After a few seconds it seems to time out and I get a "server is most likely unavailable" message on-screen. After I cancel the message I try to play a movie. The movie starts and immediately starts to buffer VERY slowly. If i let it go long enough the xbox usually locks up. It has never cleared up and started playing normally.

It may be worth it to say I have two xbox's and both have the buffering issue. I honestly can't say if the second one has the scraper issue. The hardware itself has not changed. I'm using a Buffalo NAS, Cisco gigabit unmanaged switch, and a Netgear Prosafe router. All of the hardware is in a rack and connected with short patch cables.

Any help is greatly appreciated. My kids are driving me nuts!!

Buffering and scraping issues

Post by Dom DXecutioner »

If this just started, I would say is not necessary xbmc related, can't say with certainty; however, what I can say, you're using a year old build of xbmc and the scrappers will certainly not work.

I encourage you to try the latest nightly build to test it out; BuZz has made many changes, some include smb, scrapper and skin engine.

Once you have tested this out and the issues continue, we can take a closer look.

K. I updated to r32865 today. It seems to have solved my scraping issue but the buffering still remains. It does seem slightly better though in the very limited testing i've done so far.
