Stop Scanning "Download TV Show Information"

Post by spicemuseum »

How do I turn off scanning for good? I want to get rid of the "Download TV Show Information" every time I start up.

I think you should go to settings, video settings and there should be an option in there to turn it off, if you want you can turn the whole libary off which would deffo stop all scanning.

It's already off :-(

**experimentaiton**
Enable Library
System -> Settings -> Video -> Enable Library [on]
...then disable scraping on start-up
System -> Settings -> Video -> Update library on startup [off]
Seems to work, even if counter-intuitive.

Library on or off wont matter, its the update library on startup that needs to be disabled

Edit:Oh, see you already got it

Well, this feature is turned off by default... which means that you, or someone, purposely turned it on; nothing counter-intuitive about it!

Well it is counter intuitive to update a library when the library is disabled anyhow...

That's predicated under the assumption that a user has enable it and the library is "disabled"; in which case is not an xbmc issue but rather user...

Dom, what's counter-intuitive is that when library is disabled by the user, all the other radio buttons on that screen indicate that those functions are also disabled - but they're not!

Aye, I've run into this issue before and really its an issue of semantics so I didn't put in a ticket. Anyone? =)

If user has set "Enable Library" = off, while leaving the "Update library on startup" = on (and disabled, innaccessible) and you still get the library updates at startup, I would think that qualifies as a bug and I would raise a ticket (the logic that kicks the library update at startup should check not only for whether the "update library at startup" is on, but also whether "enable library" is on as well).
