Hi Dan,

sorry if this has been answered before: Is there a way to increase the HTTP timeout? I get timeouts quite often, e.g. almost every time I open an internet radio stream. The stream will playback fine, but the app will throw a timeout error. While this one might be cosmetic, the problem gets real when I try to open a local folder with a lot of music files. The app will only read the content of the directory until it times out, so you will only see a part of the titles and can't play all of them.

@Colani1200
I see, thanks for the feedback.

On one hand I started looking at XBMC4Xbox Web Server implementation and see if it's possible to HTTP compress (gzip or deflate) the contents, that would allow to serve the contents faster to the client, but that will take a while to get my head around it and code it in.

On the other hand, you must have a network issue though an audio stream cannot possibly choke your local network to not the app to retrieve the information in the current 5 seconds, but at the same time, I would imagine with a large set of data might exceed the timeout in a somewhat laggy environment.

I will look at introducing a setting to allow to increase the timeout though, although to be honest you still want to look at the network issue (either from Xbox to router or from phone to router) as even with a longer timeout you would still need to wait for that period though.

I doubt it's a network issue, it's just some operations that take longer than the 5 seconds timeout. BTW, the last "official" XBMC remote for Android that works with the Xbox (I think 0.8.2 or so) will allow scanning large folders just fine. I still have it on my old phone...

Can you please contact me by email (see first post in the thread), I'd like to discuss debugging this issue further, especially that you can compare with the original XBMC app, thanks.

Hi Bas (DonkeyWonkey), please contact by email (see the first post in the thread) with a screenshot (not sure what you mean "no buttons in the app") and we'll take it from there.
Press Volume Down and Power buttons at the same time, hold them for a second to take a screenshot.

No, not yet - but please use the PM (Private Message) button under my name here on the left, or send me an email by clicking the email address in the ActionBar > About page of the application for confirmation instead of using the email thread, thanks.

Announcement

Post by Dan Dar3 »

Just a quick announcement, with apologies in advance.

In protest to this new policy Google Play introduced where indie developers with paid / IAP applications are required to post a physical address to be publicy displayed in the store listing, with which I disagree on principle and for practical reasons, I will not be publishing any new updates in the Google Store, with the possibility that the app may be suspended at some point.

https://www.change.org/p/google-remove- ... oogle-play

I apologize to everyone who paid for the in-app purchases in support and I will gladly refund you if you provide me the details - either PM me here or send an email with your order number / date of purchase.

Please lets not discuss the Google Play policy on this thread, thank you - I will be tonight (23:00 GMT) on TeamSpeak to discuss this if you want.

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough, still raw about all this.

I will release an update in the next couple of weeks, but it will be a direct download from here, not on Google Play Store - until I think about it a bit more and make a decision on which direction to go.

And 6 months later (better than never, some may say), we're rolling and alpha / beta testing programme.

If you're having problems with the current stable version or you'd like to try out the new version, you can join the Groups community below with the Google account you've signed on your device: https://plus.google.com/u/1/communities ... 7742084191

Keep in mind that if you join the programme you might not be able to leave it (as in revert back to only "stable" releases) and you should only do it if you have multiple devices, automatically getting the testing versions on your secondary device, trying them out and then choosing to manually update your primary device when you're happy with it, see links below for more details.
If you find any problems (which I'm sure you will), please report them by email with some explaination (don't worry about language skils or spelling or whataver) and screenshots if possible (see first post in the thread here for my email address, also available in the app Main > About page): http://www.xbmc4xbox.org.uk/forum/viewt ... =203#p1485

Bug Report: Stream playlists with multiple entires

Post by Colani1200 »

Hi Dan,

I think I encountered a bug with playlists containing shoutcast stream URLs. As soon as the playlist contains multiple entries, I can not play any of the streams using the xbmc4xbox remote. It is possible to navigate through the entries and select a stream, but it won't play it (although the app claims to do so). This is both for .pls and .m3u. The playlists work fine when I access them via the xbmc4xbox GUI.

Example of a working .pls with only one entry:

Code: Select all

[playlist]
numberofentries=1
File1=http://50.7.64.226:80/frisky_mp3_hi
Title1=FRISKY stream 1
Length1=-1
Version=2
Example of a non working .pls with four entries (downloaded from shoutcast.com):

Code: Select all

[playlist]
numberofentries=4
File1=http://50.7.64.226:80/frisky_mp3_hi
Title1=(#1 - 42/1000) FRISKY | feelin' frisky?
Length1=-1
File2=http://stream.friskyradio.com:8000/frisky_mp3_hi
Title2=(#2 - 39/600) FRISKY | feelin' frisky?
Length2=-1
File3=http://stream.friskyradio.com:9000/frisky_mp3_hi
Title3=(#3 - 182/600) FRISKY | feelin' frisky?
Length3=-1
File4=http://stream2.friskyradio.com:8000/frisky_mp3_hi
Title4=(#4 - 186/600) FRISKY | feelin' frisky?
Length4=-1
Version=2
Playlists with multiple local audio files work fine btw.

Thanks Colani1200, I appreciate the level of the information that's very helpful, but if you don't mind let's continue the conversation by email please (see my address in first post or app About page).

Can you please enable debug logging in XBMC4Xbox and talk me through it quickly how do you use it exactly (Music > Playlists > Load playlist or maybe Music > Files > click? or anything else), and once you follow the actions in the app, extract the xbmc.log file and upload it to a webservice like xbmclogs.com or similar or attach to the email please to have a look at it, thanks. http://www.xbmc4xbox.org.uk/forum/viewt ... p?f=6&t=65

Thanks Colani1200, I've created a BitBucket issue - you can sign-up / login (top-right corner) and then you can watch it (see issue panel on right side). I will look at fixing this in version 3.0.0. https://bitbucket.org/dandar3/xbmc4xbox ... /issues/1/

Version 2.9.9.1 is in beta on Google Play (see this page on how to Get beta versions of apps).

Code: Select all

v2.9.9.1 (Mon, 24 Oct 2016):
 * Fix: display issues with high resolution devices
 * Fix: occasional crashes in main screen
PS: A completely new 3.0.0 version will be available soon, this is just a maintenance update.
