Can a softmodded xbox play games backed up to a dvd-r?

Can a softmodded xbox play games backed up to a dvd-r?

Just wondering of I have an iso of a game can I burn it to a dvd and play it on a soft modded xbox? Or can I only play them off the hard drive

Yes, burn at low speeds onto a verbatim DVD-r with a program like imgburn or play direct.from the.HDD.

Like was mentioned, it's better yet to just skip the burning stage and run it straight from the hard drive (if this is possible).

I plan on getting a larger hard drive soon but for now I'm just going to run games off of dvd
