Unable to play movies error

Post by grupy »

One of my media centres is having issues playing movies. I select the movie and the screen simply turns black and XBMC freezes.

The same movie will play on another XBOX so it makes me believe there is an issue with this particular unit and not the movie in question.

Ive uploaded the logs from the error when I tried to play this particular movie. This happens to a quite a few movies on this device, so its not specific to the single movie file either.

Hmmn! You've quite a few "out of memory" messages on there.
Have you tried switching a few features off?

i.e. switch off: -

FTP (Settings/Network/Services)
UPnP (same place as above)
HTTP Control (same place)
Allow programs and other systems (same again)
Auto detection (Settings/Networl/Auto-detection)

DVDPlayer full codec support (Settings/Video/Playback)
DVDPlayer fast mode (same as above)

Also I noticed your version is from last year, if the above doesn't help, you could try the latest 3.3 Beta1 or Beta2 builds.

Failing that, I noticed your film is on the F: drive (local) so could be corrupt.

Hope that's of some help! ;-)

Also I'd be concerned about this:

Code: Select all

16:01:43 M: 10768384 NOTICE: Display resolution AUTO : 1080i 16:9 (0)
although initially it seems to have booted in 720p mode:

Code: Select all

16:01:20 M: 45969408 INFO: GUI format 1280x720 720p 16:9
I'd review the resolution settings in Settings > Video, and also yes, updating would be a good idea.

Hehe! I noticed the 720p, but never noticed the change to 1080i, thanks Dan! ;-)

See this plugin if you want to give it a try, it will download it for you, see it's wiki page:

When I go to Go to Programs > select XBMC SVN Installer plugin > White button > Plugin Settings I get the following options:

General
Updates: show addons not in svn?
updates: show addons without a version?
view readme
view changelong

those are my only options.

I dont get the installation path as noted in the wiki

Wrong installer ;)

You want the "XBMC SVN Installer" NOT "SVN Repo Installer". Although to get the XBMC SVN Installer you will have to install it via the outdated SVN Repo Installer if you don't already have it.
