There are two ways. (this is on the Xbox by the way)

1 - Keep settings & thumbnails:
Remove everything from your installation except the "Q:\Userdata\Profiles" folder and transfer the new build & if asked to overwrite do so. (your profiles wont be affected)
After its transferred and you restart you will have two profiles Manage Profiles & DVD2Xbox, enter Manage Profiles & recreate your Profiles (same name) you will be asked to use the same settings pick yes to both of these.
If you used the the profiles script you will need to enable it on the right hand side.

2 Clean install:
Just delete everything & transfer over the new build.
Create your new profiles (same name if you used the profile script) & enable the Individual save for each profile option on the right.
If you used the script it will just work, as nothing has changed other than optimization with the script.

If you never used the profiles script then just leave that option disabled.

I may look into making a script to migrate to a new build, but the issue with that is it would require the user to backup files first or rename some files.
(clean install and just recreating the profiles is the simplest way, as long as the name matches what it was previous then the save script will work)

Update:
OK I have an updater done, well just need to clean it up & get it ready for end users to use but its working.

There is an example included, if you download it from the GitHub.

For videos you place a video file named preview.xmv,wmv,mp4 or mpg in the "_resources\media" folder.

First, thank you for all of your hard work. I just got it up and running and I'm enjoying the layout and features.

I was wondering if there is anyway to bypass the profile select screen on startup and/or have it auto-log in to a profile? I apologize if this has been asked before, but I could not find an answer by searching.

Either way, thank you!

Edit Q:\USERDATA\profiles.xml and change line 3 from <useloginscreen>true</useloginscreen> to <useloginscreen>false</useloginscreen>

Now all you need to do is change the skin to Profiles skin & you're done.

Cheers, the commits are live.

New Player Control screen, looks damn nice on a big screen.
The labels change colour based on the background colour, only for default colours though and the chevron is animated, bobs up and down.

New Fanart view, upgraded the textures used and fixed a couple things.

Hi!

Old xbox gamer here, back at it to setup son for some Godzilla xbox fun :)

Awesome mod you've made!!!
Would love to get that onto the old chipped xbox I have got for my son. Thing is, I'm a Mac user, and I don't know how to run a .bat file to setup the XBMC4Kids would work unless I run a win-emulator or setup a mac win partition.....

May I ask, realizing this must be a noob questions...
1 can I manually assemble the mod or is there some way to run .bat on macOS?
2 the chipped xbox has a rather old xbmc already running of course. How to switch it out for the XBMC4Kids mod?

Thanks in advance!
Cheers,
Hans

I will build you a copy.

Once you are up and running let me know. ( So I can remove the link )

You can use the updater folder method, you place the folder I send you ( updater ) inside your current XBMC folder and then use XBMC's file manager to launch the default.xbe inside the updater folder. Simples.

No problem :) I'm here to help.
New view, CardView.

Updated all the views that have the trainer and played icon overlays:
If the game hasnt been played yet the trainer icon will move over into its place, makes it cleaner looking.

Updated the fanart view, added the played and trainer overlays.

Updated some of the textures ( larger dimensions ) and also optimized most of the images.
( Super PNG )

Updated the Synopsis and the video preview screen:
Fanart and the background overlay are delays, this stops the flickering effect.

Removed some includes from the includes.xml as there only used on the master profiles loginscreen.

Created a new birthday xml that I wanted to use and add settings so people could set up to 5 birthdays for your kids and on that day it would have balloons and a banner.
Well since we cannot SubSting info labels its cannot be done, I did create a workaround but it slowed XBMC down alot lol nearly 2000 lines of code to do what 1 1 line should be able to do and that's only the non American and Canada day month format, its another 1900 lines for that one lol.
( Includes_SubString_Workaround.xml is not used )
