Wat up peeps!

Ok, for those who may be interested in building or testing skins, the download below is a build for the Windows environment... now, don't get, too, excited, you can only test skin functionality and nothing more; can it play videos? I don't know and I don't care; can it add sources? I don't know and I don't care; can it scrape? I don't know and I don't care; can it run python? Hell-oh-nah and I don't care (though it would be nice); can it do your homework? I don't know and guess what?... yup, you guessed it, I don't care!

He he... sorry, I was trying to be funny... either way, it is simply for skin buiding and testing! Nothing more, nothing less...

Unpack the ".rar" file and run the "run_me.bat" file and you're in business...

To test a skin, it's just a matter of putting the skin folder in, you guessed it, the skins folder... in order to have library functionality, you will have to copy your databases and thumbnails to the appropriate folders from your xbox; if you need to know how to do this, perhaps you're not ready to build skins... I'm just sayin'! Either way, any questions, just ask and I or others will be more than happy to assist.

Thanks man. I've been using a win32 build I made over a year ago... Never got around to re-installing VB and the XDK after I upgraded to Win7.

No problem... with all the new gui changes, perhaps this will give you inspiration to building a new skin :)

If you didn't know, we have the new following items:
- Container.FolderName = "Genres", "Actors", "Actors Name" (as oppose to "videodb//#/#/)
- Custom Properties In Static Containers: <property name="foo">text</property>
----- usage in the container: <label>ListItem.Property(foo)</label> (or texture)
- Built-In Functions: AlarmClock(foo, function, seconds, loop=true)
- Built-In Recently Added (script no longer needed)

That's the main things I can think of right now.

what language is the skins written In.
just lookin to see if i can figure this stuff out .:geek:

yes its verry nice but have the abillty to run python we have one tool for all!
Networks and weather works the paplayer to
Conect to xbox to
last Fm login to but dvdplayer and mplayer not!
Verry nice to tst skins!

English... It's not that complicated, really... IMHO, the difficult part is the designing part of it and the graphics (at least for me). The animations and conditions can be a bit more complicated than the rest but it all depends on the skinner. It can be time consuming remembering commands and the many windows and dialogs that comes with xbmc.

Simply ask questions and someone will be willing to assist.

True but that's too involved for one developer and he's been busy plus, let us not forget that the man does have a personal life... I'm just saying! :)

LOL @ English yea i kinda got that But , i ment is it python / java / some scripting language from outer space only Known to One man here on earth Lol

I will that he have a motivation and see that the user give him a little bit respect for all the work!

Hexen it give the XAI installer this give you the abillity to install extra addons and skins for xbmc4xbox!
By the skins is the same with by the addons most can not works out of the box on xbmc4xbox!
Xbs is te user what have all the skins forked from main xbmc , what you have on the default build !
It give a night skin forked for xbmc4xbox on XAI !

Would you mind posting what changes happened (or what new items were added) between Dharma and Eden? I'd like to try this with the skin I'm using, but I don't want to skip a whole skin version update before I try this build

There has been many changes to XBMC4XBOX itself, too many to list; the skinning engine has had some changes but not many... what's listed is what is now available for skinners. There are some difference (skinning engine) between XBMC Dharma/Eden to XBMC4XBOX, but considering that there's only one dev and not that many skinners, i doubt that we'll have all that's available in main xbmc, which it's really not that much (mostly the addons stuff); nevertheless, we never know...
