Quick question regarding xbmc origins cache: after installation, I decided to delete several xbox games, and while they do not show up in my games folder, the titles and a black screen would show up in the featured games window, or the favorites window for example. I have reset the cache several times by deleting the contents of the programs folder (e:\apps\xbmc\userdata\thumbnails\programs), yet the titles are still appearing. (I am using my games folder as the featured games folder). I can't figure it out- any help would be appreciated, thanks :|

So the deleted games are still showing up in the featured games, and/or favorites window. This is still occurring after the cache is cleared in the regular manner. Is there another folder that has to be deleted in xbmc?

The skin does not use cache images but rather the thumb.jpg located in the resources folder for each game; the same goes with the favorites, except it uses the icon.jpg, or is it the poster.jpg image; I don't remember.

The featured games are pulled from the database; however, when you physically delete a game -- for some reason or another -- xbmc does not remove the entry from the database itself.The reason you don’t see the game when viewing thru xbmc -- after it gets physically deleted -- is because xbmc scans the folders, matches it with what's in the database, if what's in the folder is not in it, it adds it, but displays what’s found during the scan not from the database itself.

I had attempted to make a patch to fix this behavior but never got around to finishing it, never mind submitting it :)

For now, just delete the programs database and it should rebuild itself without the deleted games.

ok thank you, and thanks for sharing this amazing skin!!!!(thanks also to joshlineberry(?) youtuber who modded your original skin). I did delete the programs db in userdata/thumbnails, but can't get rid of the deleted games folders. Something else i noticed with xbmc- I have it installed in e:\apps folder; but then a Q:\ folder also gets created ?by the program. This also has userdata\thumbnails etc. - can i delete programs db here too or will that ruin xbmc. Also, i guess that a complete reinstall of xbmc would be possible, but then i have to redo all the shortcuts, edit home.xml etc.?

I got it now, its the Myprograms6.db file in database folder- erase this and let xbmc rebuild the database. Thanks!

Now that's out of the way, I had a few questions about this glorious looking skin. I've been digging at the home.xml myself and finding it a bit tedious due to inexperience so I'll ask.(I have it parsed out neatly with Tidy2 and all but still, it's a bit to keep deleting a few lines, then test, then delete, then test, then delete, then woops, start over)

-First, as previously mentioned, how can I remove the little Avatar dude next to the games and emulator? A toggle option would be cool but honestly I just want to obliterate it.
-As quite a few people mentioned and requested, could you add an option to remove/disable pages? (Music,Movies,TV Shows,Home,Weather,Social are useless for my application) Or possibly share on HOW TO (such as key lines to remove?) since the person who did create that "minimal" version has yet to share anything even after posting they'd share it multiple times and creating a thread about it.
-I've noticed games/emulators stored on G aren't seen when you goto create shortcuts. Is there ANY way to make G available as only sticking to E is ludicrous with 40+ emus.
-I also had an idea of adding "reflections" for the games, and wondered how difficult this would be to pull off? Basically using each game and creating a 'mirrored' image flipped vertically and fading out.

Those are really the only things I'm interested in tweaking, other than those, it's a beautiful skin and really enjoy it. Please let me know when you get a chance, I've been messing with this for a while but it's just easier to ask. I hope someone finds the Emulator resources useful. Thanks again for creating a sexy skin.

could someone explain me please how to make working the featured games please ?

No icons or pictures are displayed in featured games, how to add some pictures to display there please ?

And another question please, when i edit a shortcut, can i delete this and make a new one ?

I don't manage to delete a shortcut i have made, and finally how to add new shortcuts ?

Amazing skin, I was wondering how to get the XBL gamertag avatar to be fetched, the feature doesn't seem to work, the demo video shows an XBL avatar.

When going to games instead of loading all the games, to speed up load times, how do I break them up by letter? ie: # -> B , C->F or the like.

Do I create a folder, put #-> B games in it, add source and name it #-> B, then add an image to the link or do I have to edit an xml?

There is an update script that managed to get my XBL avatar, I tried the modded version but I want one that has the other tabs too, same like the original version, it's a shame it still has bugs I encountered (Transparent side menu when pressing Dpad Up for Options, also the navigation cursor stays on the previous tab when moving to the next tab, white background on white text when going to set the content for movies for example, the Sing Out and Xbox Dashboard do not work when on the XBMC guide)

Am i doing something wrong with the installation of this skin ?, i can't get it to work at all, i have placed the skin in my XBMC's skin folder and have replaced the Keymap files correctly, and my XBMC is on version 3.5.1, when i select the skin though in XBMC the console freezes for a moment as if it's changing over but than reverts back to the default skin for XBMC, i can get every other skin ever made for XBMC to work no problem but this one just wont work ?

Im having problems with the skin.


Look at the pics. It was working at first and now I get that white screen and some taps don't work like My Games which makes it impossible for me to access my games.

Edit: nvm fixed it.

For future reference, if you can't select the emulators you placed in the emulator directory when creating a shortcut on the dash, check SkinShortcuts.py (in the scripts directory).
In my case I installed everything on the F-disk, but this script assumes you installed on the E-disk. Changing E:\Emulators to F:\Emulators fixed the problem.

Now I can successfully create shortcuts for the Emulators on the games page.

Maybe someone can help me out. I've got this copied over and it starts, I can scroll through the menus, but when I click on the emulators icon under games it brings up a blank menu. All of my emulators are in:
E:\Emulators\

Does anyone know if there is keyboard support for this? Or how to add it? Tried using a keyboard and it didn't work, however the confluence skin has it so it would be nice to get it working on this as well.

All the skins have the keyboard support and i have tested my keyboard in the xbox origins skin (and the others) and it works. With Xbmc4Xbox only the usb made keybords works: look at the wiki ;) https://www.xbmc4xbox.org.uk/wiki/Default_Controls
