Best Skin for smaller TV's

Post by coacharnold »

Ok ... I have a 23" tv ..... anyone have any thoughts on what the best skin/setup is for that?

I've been playing around with this for years, the skins keep getting better and more complicated and I have to keep getting closer to my screen ..LOL

I currently use a customized version of Hdee Tee Vee

Any thoughts?

Dude, you need glasses?

No disrespect, but I have one xbox setup with a 16" TV.
And it runs on the PM3 skin. And that works just fine for me.

I am curious about your HDee Tee Vee though. You got some screens from it?

There is a screen capture option in XBMC.

@ coacharnold...one of the main purposes of what I did to Rapier was to provide a more ledgible skin. Give it a try if you haven't already, its quite clear and highly customizable (excellent on ram usage also).

If you're using CRT then for me xtv-saf wins every time, the simple black background with big white bold text works great. That being said byrons rapier-mod also works really well too. Both are customisable but if you want something basic and easy to read my personal preference is xtv-saf on a CRT. I even setup my parents r-pi with that skin, even though they are on a 37" HDTV it's just so simple to use and nice and quick too.

Yea...make sure you don't have a double folder (i.e. Rapier clarity mod/Rapier clarity mod/720p + all other skin files and folders) in XBMC/skins/, that is most likely the problem. Should be XBMC/skins/Rapier Clarity Mod/720p + all other skin files and folders

Unzip and paste inside xbmc skins, e.g. XBMC/skins/"skin_folder"
Skins: SLik JX720 MS_Redux Mosaic

Yes, definitely unzip it first...when you do you will have a folder named "Rapier Clarity Mod (Current)." Inside of that folder will be two items:

- Rapier Clarity Mod
- ToDDS

That is the skin folder that you ftp/copy into xbmc/skins/

If you're still using Stable 3.2.1 then you should have downloaded "Rapier Clarity Mod (Stable)" and same method applies...Sorry for the confusion, I couldn't come up with a better way in my mind to support both (hence Current/Stable downloads). I appreciate your willingness to try it though, and that should get it working for you :)

I use Basic 101 found in passions repo for xbox still working on 3.3.3 nightly and has so for....ever!

I love this skin on the crt. Big icons and fonts Everything is on the main quick easy and runs very well. Love to see it come back to mainline as well
