hello im kinda new to this. i have my original xbox soft modded and i wanting to upgrade my hdd to a 2tb. I have a Seagate Constellation ES hard drive.
i have the 80 wire 40 pin ide cable. i am using the green ide/sata adapter. i also have the y connector for power. i have made it to the part on chimp where i have to check the hard drives and i can only see the factory hard drive not the one i want to install. i keep getting an error saying that the hard drive will not lock. if anyone could help me out, tell me what im doing wrong or give me some suggestions that would be appreciated. if it is not to difficult a tutorial would be helpful also. thanks

What Chimp version are you using? Ideally it should be Rocky5's Chimp261812.
Did you remember to set the jumper(s) to slave on the 2TB HDD?
There is a possibility its is an IDE/SATA adapter issue or the HDD is not lockable, although the latter is unlikely.
At what point are you swapping the IDE cable from the disc drive to the new HDD? With the Chimp version mentioned that should not be a problem but if you're using an earlier version it can be.
Look at these two YT videos and follow Rocky5's instructions exactly and if you are still having the same trouble post back here again.

BTW in case you did not know it is non-optional when using a 2TB HDD to split the space equally between the F:\ and G:\ drives. You must also ensure they are both correctly formatted too.
