Switching to tsop but keeping Aladdin modchip?

Post by Elurin »

Hi All,

I have done several mods with Aladdin chips for friends and family in the past but it seems one of my personal ones since a recent flash with IND 5004 sometimes does not start. I have already locked the disk and did a rebuild with Hexen to make sure I can do a softmod with the already installed game save for splinter cell.

Because of this I am thinking of doing a tsop because it is a 1.1 version and soldering two spots is easy. However I want to keep the Aladdin chip in.

My idea was to start with the mod chip disabled, do a softmod and with Hexen do a tsop flash.

But before I go down this path I want to make sure that I do not have to disconnect my mod chip first or at least remove one or two wires?

You can remove the chip from the pinheader and do exactly what you saying, softmod and then flash the TSOP but keep the chip disabled or unmounted when you want to boot from TSOP.
