Check the DO wire is in place.

If that doesn't help, resolder the pins.

If that doesn't help resolder the socket.

If that doesn't help your chip has dropped it's content.

Solution, boot any modded Xbox and once booted insert the faulty modchip while the machine is still ON and you "must connect the DO wire"

Insert a Xbox build disc and reflash the faulty modchip bios.

Turn machine off once done and swap the modchip back over.

Duox modchips do this "drop there guts" regularly. Better using a simple Alladin. Once they are setup properly they never fail.
I'll look at that xbox soon. I hope it is an easy fix, with no soldering. I am i dire need of a proper soldering iron, the ones I got are all cheap ones that are best for...... well actually nothing.....

What is DO wire? I think i know what wire it is, but why is it called DO?
You MUST use a D0 wire for a modchip to work. It supplys the required signal to the mother board to tell it to boot off the modchop and not the on board bios. It connects the modchip's terminal marked D0 to one of the mother board's D0 points.

If it isn't connected the machine will try booting off it's own bios only. You may as well take the modchip out, it isn't going to do anything.

This box is acting weird. It fraged last time I worked on it. Thought I found the fault, in the mole split I used for diodes.

Changed it and it worked well after. Then I come now and starts it. It boots and I start playing. Everything freezes, and after a reboot it frags again.

Then I change from Xbox power cable with some protection on to a standard cord and it boots. After a while it starts to frag again.

Now I can't get it to boot, starting to think it is either "dirty" power from the generators. I know we got some noise on the electrical net on the barge. Or could it maybe be the power supply?

Did some work on my projects these days.

Cleaned a crystal controller s. It is sadly still a bit yellow (from the time the Xbox was new and we smoked inside the house)

Also cleaned a green controller s i just bought of eBay. Working, but one of the thumbsticks are a bit broken. New ones ordered (360 ones)

Also cleaned a Mad Catz wireless controller i got.

I also mounted diodes in a crystal one I got.

Tonight I finished the Xbox nicknamed "Black Crystal"

New HDD, so had to paint it black and also paint the other blacked out parts again for colour match

Image

Then I changed the old blue leds for new purple ones (sadly they look blue on the pics. They are not on real life)

I am very happy with it myself too. Sadly the diodes I used was prewired and shrink wrapped, so they where too bulky to fit in the controller ports. If I find the same colour diodes without wire I will do port mods. Sadly I bought them ages ago, and can't remember what colour it was. Either that's what you get ordering purple leds, or I may remember something about purple blacklight......

Now i have started on my first slim XboX.

It is an 1.1 xbox i bought a while a go, it has a Xcuter2 Lite chip it, so my first working chipped xbox. Thought this was i good candidate for an slim, since i can run it without the DVD PCB.

I rigged the "dremel" and got ready to cut (after reading a couple of guides)
Image

But the switch broke when I tried to start it..... Had to fix it:
Image

Found the bigger toy for cutting the shield
Image

Test fitting while cutting:

I mounted a 60mm fan to the shield.

And test fitted it in the bottom
Image

And finally fitted the newly cut down dvd caddy with HDD (not the one i am using yet). Need to get a molex extender, since it wont reach as it is.

I am pretty happy with my first slim xbox. It is not finished yet, i am thinking of tinting the lid. Not decided what style jewel to go for yet, or if I should mount the shield again or not. Maybe leave as is, or black out the interior. Maybe even som led mods?

But it seems like the hardes part of the mod went pretty well, I'll let you decide.

I also have to make or source some bolts to use, and not decided if tinting it black, red or red with black on top......

That was brave to do your first slim box on a crystal case. It came out looking pretty good! How long did it take you? Looking at these photos make me think I should do one. The guides I've seen don't make it look that tricky.

Personally I love the look of controller port LEDs in the crystals 8-)

Thanks. It was not too hard to do, i did that in one evening. It is still not finished, so one more evening i believe for finishing touches.

About it being a crystal. It is just the top, it is the original top from my chostcase one. I have several crystals, so I dont feel they are so special. I have never seen any of the other translucent original ones though, and would love to get my hands on one of those.

Controller port leds may come, not sure what colour in that case. Will look into that, the jewel and some other mods. I also heard that it should be easy to switch the buttons workings, just havent found any guide yet.

I think this box is close to done now. Cleared the jewel using this stuff.
Image
Took me about 20 minutes :o

Then I tinted it black.

The mods:
-Xecuter2lite chip
-Silent 60mm fan
-New thermal paste
-Removed clock cap (it's a 1.1)
-400gb IDE hdd (NOS)
-Original bottom, crystal top
-Slimmed down
-40pin 80 strand IDE cable
-Tinted red and black
-Cleared and tinted jewel
-Extended the power cable for the hdd (soldered)

Still need to source some screws that will fit to secure the top.

Since this is going to be my daily driver in the living room, I don't think I will do light mods on it. I may do a controller port led mod, but not sure yet.

Now to fill it with games and other software :)
