dead hard drive

Hi, please help with advise pls,
I come across and xbox that was softmodded but the gard drive was totally dead, and I had no access to the the drive to get the eprom, What are my option regarding install a modchip these days, are the any new developments on the scene.

Aladdin chips are cheap and still very easy to find.

you can read the eprom on the motherboard with a cable and ponyprog then build a new ine with xbhdm

I haven't used this but a
Raspberry Pi is also capable of reading an xbox eeprom.
