How do you get HDD key with softmod?
I was thinking of softmodding a 1.6 xbox and installing a new HDD. I know you need the HDD key in case the new HDD fails and was wondering how you get it. I know TSOP is easier with earlier models but I like that 1.6 is newer and more likely to last longer.

One way is to backup eeprom (there is an option when using a softmod tool) than transfer it to your windows pc.
Than you can use an eeprom tool to read the file and it shows you all information you get from the eeprom like the keys.
Without softmodding (or modchip) you won't get the hdd key. Also locking a bigger hardrive using this key doesn't work for all hdd models, but my softmodded xbox runs a 500gb locked hdd this way.
