Another hdd question, sorry

If a larger hard drive was locked on one console could you put in into another console and still be able to boot from hexen disc?
I have a modded m8 bios set to boot from e:\dash\unleashx\default.
If I put the bigger hard drive in that was locked on another console and try booting from hexen it just hangs on the x logo but the light turns and stays red like it should but never actually boots. There is nothing wrong with the dvd drive or disc as if I put stock hard drive back in it boots no issues from the disc.
I thought due to the bios it shouldn't matter if hdd is locked or not

If the hdd is locked it matters, the system (ie, bios) will try to unlock it via the onboard eeprom key.

If the hdd is unlocked & the bios supports unlocked hdds then it will boot.

Unfortunately you will need to unlock the hdd first, or replace the eeprom key on the new Xbox with the one used to lock the hdd.

Cheers rocky I figured as much so stuck it back in the old box and unlocked it
