I got an unlocked 1 TB original XBOX hard drive. It is a Hitachi SATA III drive. I want to use it on a Windows 7 as a normal Windows 7 hard drive. When I plug it in via an USB enclosure, Windows sees the drive but says it needs to be initialized. When I tried to initialize it, I get a CRC error.
Any idea how I can get this to work on the Windows 7 machine? I don't care about the data on the drive so a new format would be fine.
Thanks for all the help in advance!
Recover an original XBOX 1 TB for Windows 7
Re: Recover an original XBOX 1 TB for Windows 7
You might need to completely wipe it first to get it to work in windows, use DISKPART in a command prompt and follow the below
LIST DISK (shows all drives)
SELECT DISK (add the number for the 1tb drive you want to use)
CLEAN
Then go into admin tools under control panel, then disk management and initialise the drive and create a partition. You should be able to format it then.
Make sure you have the right disk selected in diskpart though....
