Xbox with a SmartXX chip

So I bought an XBOX didn't know it had the SmartXX chip in it. The XBOX worked fine but I wanted to upgrade XBMC (had a very old version) this was a while back. In short I installed the new XBMC and the new XBMC/SmartXX wasn't working with each other, I would get error 7 so I erased the banks in SmartXX still nothing. Then I changed some settings if you hit the power button it gets the SmartXX menu and hit the eject XBMC boots up which worked at first.

Well now I can't even get into the SmartXX menu but messing with that settings I get XBMC working when I hit either power or eject button.

Ever since I get this XBOX I have nothing but trouble, I have modded like 6 XBOX's games XBMC with no problems but this one was been a pain since day one.

1. Does anyone konw how can i get the SmartXX menu back
2. I just can't seem to flash the SmartXX chip, I can't seem to figure it out
3. Or do I just sell the problem child XBMC works and everything seems fine now

Any ideas would be great thanks.

if its anything like how my first Smartxx xbox was when you power it on for a split second the power ring goes red. when it flashes red you need to press the eject button if I remember right. That should make the smartxx OS to load

OMG really WOW it worked you the man thanks so much!!

So here I am back to it working, when I first got this Xbox when the logo came up excalibur would be below the X logo now it says Microsoft so somehow I uninstalled Excalibur.

So how to get it back???? Did I really need it??? I feel like a noob I have never flashed an Xbox.

I am just trying to figure out is this chip worth the trouble to flash it for some reason the original owner put XBMC in drive E all games in drive F with drive X Y Z having about 749 mb free and nothing in drive C with 299 mb free, looks like 120gb hard drive.

Seems like a mess I like XBMC in drive C saved stuff like icons and game saves in drive E.

Any advice would be great thanks.

Ive never personally seen XBMC be installed on the C drive. Its normally on E or F in the Apps folder in my experience. Partitions X Y and Z just ignore, there isn't anything you need to do with them.
You say drive C is empty? that doesn't make much sense to me, that's where the Xbox's Dashboard should be kept. I've also never heard of a Bios called "Excalibur" it must have been a custom bios someone put together, the reason its gone now would be because you erased all the banks on the SmartXX. How is the Xbox booting currently? Does it Still load a Custom dash considering all the bios banks on the chip are blank?

Now when I hit power I get the SmartXX menu eject I get XBMC,

Yes I erased the bios I guess it might have said x2 in the SmartXX menu under original bios it use to say x2 4983.67 then under that it would have free then under that it would have Cromwell 2.40.

So should I try to flash the chip or remove it and yes nothing in c drive.

Also looks like drive R hitherto dash.

I would persevere with the chip, check that you are flashing a compatible bios for your box version :D

Here's how to flash a bios.
1) Load smart chip with quickboot (power not dvd button)
2) Go to Config (Just press up once)
3) Go to BIOS/BANK Config (Press down once after opening config)
4) It'll tell you the size parameters (2mb) and then go to flashing menu (Up OR down twice)
5) NOW you have the menu to find the bios, so either it's in your C drive or E drive or on a CD, in which you click the respective one to where it is, it'll look and display all files.
6) Find the BIOS.BIN so that where it says BIOS: None it'll change to BIOs: BIOS.BIN
7) Change the bank to any empty bank of which you have 7.
Cool Click mirror flash to fit (trust me)
9) "Program Flash NOW!" needs to be clicked, it'll do a half second load and BAM, flashed.
10) exit to the main menu again and then just click the BIOS.BIN Option in the main list.

You must have a bios flashed to load to xbmc?

Check the version of your xbox, 1.6a & b need a different bios to the rest, make sure it is the correct size, most people have their own favorite, but mostly they do the same thing :!: :P

Scroeffie posted this if your looking for a bios

So per Ging3rguy I was able to get the bios and flashed the xbox now one of the banks says x2 4983.67 in the SmartXX menu but when I pick that XBMC doesn't come up just a blank screen.

How to get XMBX to work with x2 4983.67 bios?

Thanks again.
