Xbox HDD upgrade

So after softmodding my Xbox I realize now the 8gb hd is my bottle neck I want to upgrade to a larger HDD.

Since this seems like a good place to get fresh and up to date info. And I'm this late to the party what is the recommended method for upgrading the HDD?

if you wish to stick with a soft mod and dont have access to a modded xbox using xboxhdm along with your hdd key to lock the hdd would be the best solution.

would pay to check the hdd compatibility list to make sure that you purchase a lockable hdd.

chimp2618 is the latest, version 2.4 is the latest on xbins i think, i think ldotsfan made it if you search on xboxscene you will find the latest link for it.

Great with that tool i was able to upgrade to a 160gb hdd

That would be ldotsfan - not an i in sight anywhere in his name......

You can also use lxhdm (on HeXEn) to build new disks on your Xbox. It has the advantage that it doesn't copy your old softmod, but installs a new, clean one.

I've used xboxhdm and chimp 2.4 and I'd go with chimp since you don't have to go through the process of creating the xboxhdm image burning it etc. With chimp you do have to do a hotswap but if that doesn't bother you it's a breeze.

there was a xbox hdm installer setup that boots from usb stick and require no burning you just place the soft mod files on the usb stick where it tells you and then boot from the stick and away you go.

If you have trouble with amking aproper image for install etc you can always use AutoBuilder. Just one click and it will make you an XBOXHDM installer that will work with 1.9, 1.9b or 2.2. Very newb friendly and stable like a mountain
