I have a 1.0 xbox. I flashed it with a bad BIOS. It's been sitting on my "someday when I have more time" pile for a while.
I finally found the time today. The 3 wire trick worked. It boots up.
Problem is that it got separated from the hard drive that goes with it a long time ago. Now it wont boot up since it seems that it is a factory BIOS. The hard drive lock/unlock is not working.
I tried to put in all the spare factory drives that I had laying around, one by one. None worked.
So now I have a problem. The xbox boots up but I cant get it to do anything. What can I do? Please dont say eeprom reader. Is there another solution?
Is there a reader floating around that I can borrow because I swear I cant make one on my own. Any help appreciated.

If you cannot boot a custom BIOS from the TSOP and if you dont have the HDD key or the original HDD locked with that key...
Modchip or EEPROM reader, no way out.
I would recommend a modchip. Get it to boot, get it ready to TSOP and TSOP it, then you can even remove the modchip if you want.
