Xecutor X2 Duo help

Post by alanbarn »

Hi

I've been given a Version 1.3 xbox with an Xecutor Duo X2 chip installed (it's blue with an AMD chip.)

It has various wires connected to the motherboard, and one connected to the eject buton, there are no external switches.

There is a switch on the modchip board itself.

I have no idea how to operate the mod chip or use its functions, I've done a bit of googling but not been able to find a user manual or guide, or instructions,

I realise that it's not complicated, but without guidance I won't get the benefit.

Any help or links appreciated

The DUOX 2 is not a Xecuter Chip.

If installed correctly (may be reversed):
The "Power" turns the Xbox on with the modchip on.
The "Eject" button turns the xbox on with the modchip off.

The switch on the chip is used to select which of the 2 BIOS the xbox boots with.
"Blue DuoX 2
Bank 0 is X2 (4979 usually) Suitable for V1 to V1.5 Xbox. Re-Flash using Evoxdash
Bank 1 is Evox M8.16 (M8+.16 on newer chips with bank protector swicth on). Suitable for 1.6 version only. Re-Flash using Evoxdash.
Bios size 512K each bank" (xboxscene)

Thanks

The reason I thought that it was an Xecutor chip was the text under the splash logo on boot.

So it's just a selectable bios (via the power or eject button) then.

There aren't any other spacial features then?

Is it called a Duo X2 mod chip (for my own reference)?

I intend replacing the hard drive with a larger one, then running games from that (and/or Coinops), I've no intention of going on xbox live.

No special features other than being very reliable and easy to work with, those are my fav. chips to install and have, and yes sir they are called DUOX2. I would recommend flashing bank 0 with the X2_5035 bios (make sure it's for a 1.0-1.5 xbox, NOT 1.6), this will make upgrading the hard drive in the future very easy to do unlike softmods. Also you dont have to worry about the Xbox Live part anymore, I think they stopped supporting it for the original xbox a few years ago.

As Ghostly said just use EVOX to flash the chip or even use the new Slayers 2.98 disc to do it for you, it should give you the option to use X2_5035 when the old disc (2.7) did not. Happy modding and keep asking questions as you go along, better to ask instead of messing something up :D

X2-5035.67 or X2-5035.06 ?

I've downloaded Slayers hybrid auto-installer 3.2U multi (couldn't find 2.98)

(I used 2.7 to install a larger HD with no issues)

Found it on a German website:

x2.5035.06 - for HDD's with only F: partition
x2.5035.67 - for HDD's with F: and G: partition

So what exactly are the benefits of this bios?????

Should I use this bios with a TSOP as well as with the X2 chip??

You should choose the proper BIOS depending on the size of the hard drive your using. How big of a drive did you settle on? And NO you do not need to flash the TSOP if your using a Chip, the chip does exactly this.
