What's with emulators not having skins or artwork?

I down loaded the emulators both separately and emustation itself, and None of the emulators have skins. They launch but are straight black screens with white text on them.
There isn't even a skin to choose from inside any of the directories either, so going to skin configuration won't work due to there being no skin to choose from.
So when will emulators get both skins and artwork?
