What is 1+3 mode vs 2+3 mode? how do i tell the difference, and set them to the different modes?

its to do with the VGA scan frequencies. Usually changed within modchip bios?

I found out I can just use a component to VGA breakout and I'll be fine that way, then add in a headphone jack for headphones o red/whites
