Hi guys i have a question will mSata drives via sata adapters work i say this as my sata adpater wich is connected via a PATA IDE 100/133 cable is master/slave capable and im wanting the smallest possible drive that i can attach to the top of the DVD drive allowing the HDD caddy to be removed improving airflow and installing some fans later to in this free space
ive also looked at IDE/Sata to SD card adapters but there speed is very slow unless sxdc works well enough for xbmc? all idea's welcome looking forward to your replies

you could go for one of those micro ide drives like what they use in handy cams the earlier ipod models and some notebook computers they are more likely to work with out too much issues as they are native ide..
you could try a hitachi 1.8" ide 1.8"cf 50pin ide drive or 1.8" zif ide drives all can be sourced from ebay all you need then is an adaptor
forgot to mention cf cards are actually solid state ide drives.
I have been looking at something like this my self:

So, if I have a broken iPod Video 30GB I could repurpose the HDD? Or is that not the right HDD? I also really like this idea!professor_jonny wrote: ↑Fri May 19, 2017 3:01 am you could go for one of those micro ide drives like what they use in handy cams the earlier ipod models and some notebook computers they are more likely to work with out too much issues as they are native ide..

yip you could do that if it is a hdd model just need to get the correct adaptor it will either be a 1.8" ide (50 pin) or 1.8" ZIF hdd depending on the model of ipod
