You likely need to boot the Default MS Dashboard and go into the video settings and enable 480p and 720p and then restart the system into your custom dash. :)

Also, to be clear you do not have to go into the MS dash to set this. You can do the same thing in XBMC. If it's on one of your X3 machines you can also set the bios to output HD in X3 Config Live.

Did you or I take out the metal shielding in the xbox? I honestly cant remember but I guess there is a chance it's RF noise. Wrap the xbox in foil and see what happens

I recently purchased a crystal xbox with no metal shielding at all. It caused wavy lines on the TV, (PAL with normal phono leads, not HD).
After I had taken it apart, added new bottom shielding and re-assembled, I tried it on the TV again. Perfect picture, no wavy lines :) It doesn't seem to matter about the top cover shielding?

I am pretty sure that it is recommended to keep shielding under the board, at most removing the top and cutting the sides away

yea ive never came across this problem and i always leave the bottom metal casing in. Just cut away as much as u want from the sides etc and remove the top, will help improve the temp and for seeing lighting if your adding any :)
