Xbox Ram upgrade

Post by andre104623 »

I see a lot of people with upgraded xbox hardware mostly CPU and RAM upgrades. I still want to play my xbox games so I was looking to do a RAM upgrade to my 1.0 xbox so maybe my n64 games can run better. Does XBMC run movies and shows better with the ram upgrade as well? I think I found the right chips http://www.ebay.com/itm/261329345781?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT If someone could confirm there right that would be great

Dont expect things to run that much better, XBMC is for sure alittle snappier if that makes any sense. Emulators will show a good improvement, especially N64.

Thank you for the info guys I really need it never got into the early xbox scene till last month. If I have anymore questions I'll ask here I'm ordering the chips now. The N64 is what I really want to run better

You'll see a difference, it's worth it and really cool at the same time.

Yes. Emulation, XBMC, and Linux will all work better.

XBMC will have more RAM for plugins or heavier skins/options...
Mame / FBL will load a few extra games each.
N64 will have performance increase, especially in larger game ROMs.
PSX games undoubtedly will perform better in certain cases
You can get the 3 Chihiro emulated games.
Linux will not have to use swap so heavily if at all... Making it at least twice as fast and stable.

My favorite part is never having to worry about RAM dropping to 0 when navigating around menus/launching plugins and movies on XBMC. You can keep a video playing in the background while queuing the next episode... usually that means certain doom!

I'm having major issues with my ram mod. I know my solder joints are good I did them 5 times. When I first turned on the Xbox it booted then crashed after that the green light comes on then off then on again then off then once more again then flashes green. Same thing happens with Modchip plugged in or not. My Xbox ram reads Samsung 223 the ones I ordered says Samsung 301 but the rest of the numbers are the same. I checked for shorts every time I re-done the solder joints with a magnifying glass I have no idea what to do this sucks because they were very easy to solder it seems. Any help would be great

Ok this ^ project turned into a failure but I took the ram from it and bought a 1.2 xbox and TSOP flashed it with X2 bios. Then installed the ram from the old xbox ( not the ones I bought from ebay ) and first time frag. Second time perfect it works I'm seeing 103 mb free in XBMC now there is there anything I have to do next?

I really need some help finding a program/game that will test all the ram. Can someone help me find something

You can test your extra RAM by running Virtua Cop 3 (Chihiro) or Xblast OS.

XBlast OS will individually test each chip, so if you have any problems this is the best way to narrow down the issue
