The replacement tops do not fit some of the DVD drives. On each side of the top there should be a hole for a screw, when you lay it down onto the DVD the hols will match up with the old lid holes on the DVD drive. If they do not then your one of the unlucky ones, best to just get a DVD drive that will work and fit the new top.
Or, you can just cut the original DVD lid like the pic below and paint it black to hide it better.
