What's your favourite Original XBox game?
Jst curious, I've not that many games to be honest 10/12. I've been scouring eBay looking to see what's
available. I really like Doom3 and FPS style games and also driving games like Forza. So what do you
recommend?

Not sure if its nationwide or not but my local Cash Converters sell all their xbox games for 49p each AND it's buy on get one free! They didn't have a massive selection but at that price just buy a load and see if they are any good. Even though I've acquired well over 100 original games I've never really been much of an xbox gamer but I'd say the one I play the most is Crazy Taxi 3 - it's just simple and good fun, nothing too hard-core that will take up my life! Xman was recently telling me about FarCry - that sounds like a pretty awesome game.

Thanks Lee, so that's a vote for FarCry.
I will have to see if there is a Cash Converters nearby.

I was a Halo man really.... loved it... jaw dropping when I first saw it... the blades of grass on the ground and the enemy AI was fantastic....

Steel Battalion! Bought my first Xbox just for that game. Got the second one as well.
Don't play it very often anymore since it takes up quite a bit of space.

Re: What's your favourite Original XBox game?
The reason I suggested Far Cry was because in it's menu, it has an excellent map editor meaning you can have many hours of fun making you own maps that you can then play. We played on our own maps when we had LAN parties of up to 8 machines hooked up, ( the reason I got into modding Xboxes was because I was to much of a tight arse to buy the same game 8 times). One favourite map created was an island with a large track around it lined with palm trees and any of the multiple types of trees in the menu. The idea was to race around the track with it's jumps and bridges over creeks and rivers while you drive and your gunner manning a 50 cal machine gun in the back of your jeep was shooting at the other opponents in there vehicles. As you driving are on one machine in the LAN and your gunner was on another machine in the LAN, on the 8 machine LAN setup, you had 4 jeeps in the races. There were also "exploding drums of fuel when shot" lining the track at several points and other "explosives" that are there to use in the map editing tool. Basically anything that is in the game of Far Cry was in the Editing Tool free for you to use. Other themes of maps we made were mountains on an island with a quick but winding road that took a long time to navigate and while your driving to get to the highest vantage point that overlooked the whole island, your opponents have multiple weapons, RPGs, high powered rifles, cross bows and explosives that they could use against you or anyone else using vehicles along the roads or on each other while walking. There where also walking tracks and "zip lines". The creeks and rivers, "you created with the map editor" also have water craft like boats with mounted machine guns etc. I strongly suggest you have a go at your own maps as these games where by far the best games we played using the Xboxes. Oww, you can save your current map progress and continue making the map as you see fit as well as alter your maps if you want to as the maps and there progress is saved to the game's memory. To play on multiple machines, (LAN Play), you simply load your map up on your machine and get others on the LAN to connect and download your map to there machine. Once it's on all the machines, you all start the game, select that map and your all in playing. You can also have many different maps loaded on each machine so once the map was downloaded on all the machines, it is there on every machine saving the need to copy the game across ever again. Copying to machines took about 2 minutes and all the machines can copy at the same time if need be. To play LAN, all you need is a "switch", a few modded machines, cables and a few mates. Enjoy.evan_almighty wrote:Thanks Lee, so that's a vote for FarCry.

LAN play was the coolest "new" feature for the Xbox, me and my buddies played a lot of HALO, Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon and other games with co-op.
Almost forgot Splinter Cell, the third one: Chaos Theory had a great co-op campaign.

I still play my 3 favourite games:
1) Forza Motorsport
2) Rallisport Challenge 2
3) Richard Burns Rally
Nascar Heat is a another one I play occasionally - it's notable as it was the last Nascar game to feature proper realistic physics.

This might be a silly idea, but how difficult would it be to get xbox live functionality.
i.e. allowing us to play co-op games over the internet?

My favourite top three
1) Doom 3 (top graphics, tension and the action)
2) Halo 2
3) Mercenaries
It's too bad that many games didn't fully use the full potential of the Xbox when it came to graphics.
