Question About BGA Rework

Post by Tayjelir »

Is this good for BGA rework http://tinyurl.com/l8u25f5 to go along with my Yihue 858D and just get a decent thing to clamp a chip down or should I just save up for a professional rework station like this http://tinyurl.com/kwkmul5?

I have a good amount of free time and soon money so I'm more than willing to learn anything I can about electronics and hope to have a decent electronics lab some day or maybe before the end of this year.

It depends what you want to do and how much you want to spend.

I would go for a jig that is not direct heat as you will end up bending the stensils removing them or having trouble getting them off, also something you can tip the balls in and swirl it around makes it less wastefull and where you can tip them out when done back into the container.

Something like this maybe :

but in reality I would not start with a bga rework station, hot air maybe and do some ram upgrades that sort of thing before starting to reball consoles.

Okie dokie. I'm also going to order a couple Extech EX330 multimeters with a temperature probes. I just didn't know what I should use to start out with to simply gain experience. I'm more than willing to just buy scrap parts to get a feel for doing any SMT reworks and that includes work that requires a solder iron.

If you have cash to burn don't waste your time with those crapy multi meters:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fluke-190-204-S ... 1517679855

brilian machine we have 2 at work but we only have the 2 channel version.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/FLUKE-123-SCOPE ... 25a0e33aee

I only have one of these, great little machine but it its display is hard to read in direct sunlight as it has some sort of silver reflective coating on the screen.
the series II models have lithium batterys the nicad versions batterys are quite shit they only last a year, but they are cheap enough.
