Re: Handbrake Preset for XBMC4XBOX

Ended up starting my batch encode with a slightly modified version of the handbrake preset I posted above. It encodes a MKV file using h264 yuv420p @ 720x540 but with a bunch of advanced options I don't understand. Video data rate is around 2.2mb/s Audio data rate is around 125kb/s I changed audio t...

Re: Random Video Drop-outs (HD)

From an article about someone experiencing drop outs on their TV from fridge/aircon/washing machine... As has already been pointed out, the transient spike in current demand when a aircon or fridge compressor starts up will cause brief supply fluctuations (and this is completely normal and expected)...

Re: Anybody running XBMC4XBOX 3.3 at 1080i ?

There are 3 independent settings relating to screen resolution in xbmc4xbox. SETTINGS | SYSTEM | VIDEO OUTPUT Here you can enable or disable 480p, 720p, and 1080i modes SETTINGS | APPEARANCE | DISPLAY Here you can set the resolution for the xbmc dash. (Auto will default to highest available as I und...

Re: Handbrake Preset for XBMC4XBOX

Found this: http://www.xbmc4xbox.org.uk/wiki/HOW-TO ... 264_videos

Dates back o 2010, and designed more for ripping from DVDs but tweaked a few settings and seems to work ok.

Handbrake Preset for XBMC4XBOX

I need to batch encode a whole bunch of h.264 files that overload my xbox (CPU overload/dropped frames). Does anyone have a handbrake preset I could download that is setup for the optimal quality encode for xbmc4xbox? Would be greatly appreciated! Thanks :P

Re: Anybody running XBMC4XBOX 3.3 at 1080i ?

I use a 40" Toshiba Full HD LCD TV 40RV700A http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/products/televisions/lcd-tv/rv700a/40rv700a/specifications So I have the option to run at any of the available resolutions. I can see, and as the video indicated- there is debate over wether or not 720p should be considered...

Re: Anybody running XBMC4XBOX 3.3 at 1080i ?

Thanks so much for the video Xphazer! I didn't fully understand the difference between interlaced and progressive and how it related to the HD variations until now. Ill disable 1080i. There is no doubt movies are better viewed at 720 progressive. As far as navigating around the XBMC menus, text does...

Re: Anybody running XBMC4XBOX 3.3 at 1080i ?

Tried the advancedsettings.xml set to both 5242800 and 0. When 1080i enabled on XBMC, but movies set to play at 720 - system still runs out of memory... UserData/advancedsettings.xml Code: Select all <advancedsettings> <network> <cachemembuffersize>5242880</cachemembuffersize> </network> </advanceds...

Re: Anybody running XBMC4XBOX 3.3 at 1080i ?

Here is my debug log file. Looks like it simply runs out of memory when initializing at 1080, even though movies are set to play at 720. Anyway tricks to get around this? I read about an advanced setting where you could tell the system to buffer to the harddrive rather than ram, however I think this...

Anybody running XBMC4XBOX 3.3 at 1080i ?

Just wondering if anybody is running at 1080i stable? I got crashes a few minutes into a movie when running at 1080, so thought I'd just set the system to 1080 so the menu system in XBMC is 1080 but changed the video setting to playback movies at 720. This seemed to be working for a while, but I've ...

Re: Random Video Drop-outs (HD)

Interesting article related to early xboxs starting fires, and Microsoft issuing new cables to resolve the problem... May or may not be related... "And now for a little lesson on the reason behind the replacement XBOX power cords... Basically, there have been a few suppliers of the power supply...

Re: Random Video Drop-outs (HD)

I tend to agree with you xman. You certainly can't argue it's the cable, when in your case you use the same cable, with the same tv, on the same circuit - but one xbox has video dropouts while others don't. Strange that mine is a 1.1 and yours a 1.6. There are lots of power supplies for sale on eBay...

Re: Random Video Drop-outs (HD)

Power surges definitely contribute. I sat here and watched the screen flicker dozens of times in a half hour as the washing machine worked away... As soon as the washing cycle finish... The blackouts stopped... At least at the higher frequency. I'm reading up about power to see if there is a suitabl...

Re: Random Video Drop-outs (HD)

Yea. I already am using an APC surge protector power board... But I think these only protect against big spikes, they don't actually 'clean' or 'filter' the power. I might need to talk to a friend of mine who is a trained electrical engineer. I've seen a range of products online, but some aimed at t...

Re: Random Video Drop-outs (HD)

I didn't want to believe it... But you may be onto something with power surges being the culprit. I hooked my xbox up to another power outlet, but by chance the washing machine was going at the time I was testing... My screen is flicking allot more frequently, and some are clearly happening when the...

Re: Random Video Drop-outs (HD)

7 xboxs! Wow :P Well it's good to know there are PAL systems running NTSC in HD and working normally without dropouts. I'll try running the xbox from a different power source to see if it helps. I just don't understand why it would glitch running NTSC system but not PAL. Why would a power surge effe...

Re: Random Video Drop-outs (HD)

From what I've read, the original Microsoft and Monster Cable would be designed and constructed with the highest quality... But you pay a much higher price for sure. I'm still not 100% convinced that the cable is the problem.... or as DonSaffadu suggests - a problem with the PAL system runni...

Re: Random Video Drop-outs (HD)

Yea, exactly the same for me. Can almost get through a movie without a dropout sometimes, other times can happen a few times within half an hour. This is the cable I am using. Liked that it had the optical out built in also. Picture is clear, no ghosting- just the occasional drop outs. http://iw.sun...

Re: Random Video Drop-outs (HD)

So I've switched back to my original microsoft composite cable but left all other settings the same, so xbox is still running NTSC. Things looking quite blurry without HD!! But so far no drop outs. So I think that rules out power spikes. It has to be the cable or maybe an issue with the activation o...
