Re: Make iso from Xbox game on pc
I think sixties keith misunderstood that because, AFAIK, XISO is 'just' another Xbox ISO extractor. It won't allow you extract anything from an original Xbox disc on PC as the drive can't read it in the first place. From my quick research and a few trials using virtual disc drives eg. MagicISO or Da...

Re: Make iso from Xbox game on pc
Can you really just create XISO images from an original Xbox disc? I didn't think that was possible without a PC disc drive that could read Xbox discs, most don't and those that do require a firmware update too. If you have the original disc and therefore want to keep it legal then there are plenty ...

Re: [SOLVED] How to Add Game Save Icons/Thumbnails?
The XBMC version was, I think, v9.02 which was released some time late 2008 (October?) I use the latest XBMC now more often but I still have that one as another app because I prefer using its File Manager for any copying and file moves etc. The more recent XBMC version's copying progress bar/status ...

Re: [SOLVED] How to Add Game Save Icons/Thumbnails?
A slight amendment to the post above. Whilst all Xbox game saves icons are picked up a lot of the apps, homebrew games and emulators which also created game save folders in UDATA do not. For whatever reason rather than use the TitleImage.xbx that most UDATA folder entries generate XBMC appears to us...

My understanding of the information is also that you need to rename the image to "fanart.jpg" and put it in the actual game folder ie. E:\Games\Black\fanart.jpg and not E:games/black/black.jpg. On the subject of a closely related matter: I've just downloaded and installed this skin and I r...

Re: How to Use Chimp (Updated)
Plenty of people are still using the original Xbox for a whole host of purposes and reasons so updates and, more importantly, improvements to existing apps are always very welcome. I used Chimp261812 only yesterday to install a new 160GB HDD in one particular Xboxe, something I've been meaning to do...

Re: XBMC4Xbox File Manager Copy Issue
I'm criticizing the decision to make the change, in fact not even that, just that it was not made optional. This change was made years ago. You are talking about it as if I have recently changed something. I am not interested in spending my time working on this. You are free to learn and work on it...

Re: XBMC4Xbox File Manager Copy Issue
Love to, wish I could but it is a bit beyond me. I'm criticizing the decision to make the change, in fact not even that, just that it was not made optional. Give people a choice and everyone is kept happy. It should go without saying that the work and the obvious effort put into XBMC4Xbox and ...

Re: XBMC4Xbox File Manager Copy Issue
The problem with Move is that it is risky - just one failed file transfer for whatever reason and both source and target are messed up. Also it is inappropriate for many purposes, like transfering archived skin folders to a new dash version for testing before final install. I want to copy them not m...

Re: XBMC4Xbox File Manager Copy Issue
But it is inconsistent. When you use the Delete option the Status remains on screen and, I think, the same is true for Move. I've also never seen a file copying/management system on any other device which behaves like this. That suggests there are dozens of designers, and who knows how many actual u...

Re: XBMC4Xbox File Manager Copy Issue
I'm still not liking the lack of a Status box and progress bar in all recent XBMC4Xbox builds. In fact I could do without the bar as that has never been a reliable indicator as the equivalent UnleashX one. I'm still using a late 2008 XBMC v9.04 build kept installed specifically for copying purposes....

Re: Removing Disc Drive Tray Face Plate
Thanks, a very good and clear description. I did in fact work out from the first reply how to do it once I'd realised you needed to flip it over so the underneath was facing you. I then noticed there were only two tabs, as opposed to the five tabs on the top side of the plate, and it was fairly obvi...

Re: Removing Disc Drive Tray Face Plate
Sorry but your instructions are a bit unclear without knowing which way/how the tray is positioned to start with. I have the tray plus faceplate detached from the main disc drive and it is lying flat of the table with the disc receiving side upwards and the faceplate towards me so I can see the Xbox...

Removing Disc Drive Tray Face Plate
Does anyone here know the correct way to remove the Xbox disc drive tray drawer face plate? I have a unusuable Samsung disc drive (failing laser) from a Crystal Xbox but the replacement disc drive I have is a standard black Xbox Hitachi drive and I'd like to swap the faceplates. The face plate desig...

Re: SATA Adaptor Compatibility thread
The original Xbox IDE cables have 40 wires the recommendation is to get the 80 wire type. Don't be fooled by the various claims made by some sellers about the ATA standard their 80 wire IDE cable is designed for. If it is 80 wire it is suitable for everything. The extra 40 wires don't carry new info...

Re: SATA Adaptor Compatibility thread
Yes, I certainly wish I'd chosen a longer IDE cable - mine is 18"/46cm and I'd say that you'd be hard pressed to use one shorter than that. With the MB > DD connectors where they are there is a lot of 'wasted' cable length when used for this purpose. But that is true even of the original Xbox I...

Pretty sure this is the one I've used a few times.... problem is the picture is usually for illustration purpose only.... I've had them turn up before with different capacitors the surface mount type and they didnt work.... but for £1.50 not worth worrying about ;) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2517477...

Re: SATA Adaptor Compatibility thread
Has anybody here any recommendation/direct experience of a good IDE > SATA HDD adapter bought recently in the UK, and still available of course? I've just got hold of a WD 320 SATA and I was going to use it with my laptop as an external backup. However it is whisper quiet and as the WD 160 IDE HDD I...
