Re: I need help with understanding what have been done with my OG XBOX
Too many questions to answer at one time:- 1). If XBMC dash says it is a v1.6 it is but clock cap replacement is recommended if the date is not being retained for a reasonable amount of time, say 12 hours unplugged. Of course if there is evidence of leakage or bulging then replace it and any other d...

Re: Xbox 2tb soft mod worked great - now boots to a black screen/orange Led (reads discs)
It may be possible to save some stuff from F but its safest just to reformat both the extended partitions correctly and start from scratch IMHO.

Re: xbmc4gamers
What size HDD are you using and how is it partitioned?
Were your extended drives ie. F & G properly formatted?

Re: Xbox 2tb soft mod worked great - now boots to a black screen/orange Led (reads discs)
Yes, that is always the thing to ask with 2TB HDD. It must be split equally between F and G so they're both <1TB and formatted to use the correct cluster size for up to 1TB partitions ie. 64K. If you exceeded the maximum HDD content for the cluster size being used by default 16K (up to 256GiB) then ...

Re: xbox ftp not working
That is unfortunate and something I've always worried about not only Xboxes - physical damage to the ethernet port pins. The solution I've used for some time was suggested on an AV forum years ago and was actually advice in regard to headphone sockets on TVs and audio players which often get a lot o...

Re: Burning HDD ready games to disc
There are a few games like that but they may still work with dual layer discs if your burner supports them and, more likely a cause of problems, your Xbox DVD drive 'likes' the particular type being used. For some reason, perhaps just the limited number of games this affects, there seems to have bee...

Re: xbox ftp not working
Try with a standard ethernet/CAT5 type cable rather than a cross-over. With modern PCs the cable type shouldn't matter, they detect the signals whatever wire they using but I've never been able to get my desktop PC to work direct with a cross-over or standard cable. My old laptop worked direct with ...

Re: Burning HDD ready games to disc
I'd first recommend you install a larger HDD. It is almost pointless modding your Xbox, which I hope you understand is a prerequisite for playing downloaded games, and keeping the original 8GB HDD. However with 'HDD ready' downloads you want to burn to disc you need to unzip them first. Make sure th...

Re: Xbox Hard Disk Seagate ST310014ACE
Unless you have the original MB(s) of the the Xbox or Xboxes they were locked too and they can be powered up there is no practical way of unlocking them. If you have the MB(s) then it may be possible to get the eeproms from it/them using an eeprom reader (not a straightforward process either, you st...

Re: XBMC not booting, freezing at splash screen
Very late to this thread which I found because somebody else on another forum is having Profile problems. Its probably not the same thing as this but I do not think the OP ever answered the question whufclee asked about the size of the HDD and whether it had been correctly formatted. Particularly as...

Re: Soft Modded Xbox with Orange Flashing Light (help!)
Without the eeprom or a Xbox that actually boots to the point of unlocking the HDD so you can hot-swap it there is very little you can do. The eeprom can be obtained using an eeprom reader (Google for tutorials) but all that will do is unlock the HDD; you'll need another Xbox to be able to make any ...

Re: Soft Modded Xbox with Orange Flashing Light (help!)
Overheating is one of the two things an orange flashing LED is said to indicate. The other cause can be broken/corroded traces (the finest PCB paths) and they can be anywhere. I'd think a previously working Xbox suddenly overheating would be the less likely explanation even with the high fan speed. ...

Re: HDD powering up too slow....options?
AID extended drive partitioning should always be checked afterwards. I think it uses an old version of XBPartitioner which had trouble correctly formatting larger Xbox partitions. That's why XBPartitioner v1.3 which has LBA48 support is always recommended just to check F and G drives are formatted c...

I did not think about that possibility - actually makes more sense, particularly with the reference to Program Files.

Re: Updating XBMC when XBMC is running as the dashboard
What sound problem? Do you actually have XBMC installed as main dash? If not what dash are you using? Softmod, TSOP or chipped Xbox? It sounds as if you are just trying to update XBMC as the OP was (now long ago). You have to find out where your existing XBMC main dash folder is located and do what ...

Re: Hardmodded XBox - black screen problem
Interesting that you could do that. With SD cable types ie. AV Composite cable and XBMC the HD options are not available in the dashboard. Same if you're using an UnleashX dash - with a SD cable in the video settings you just get screen formatting options and can't change the resolution. Also applie...

Re: Hardmodded XBox - black screen problem
The problem is that XBMP, if that is what you're using, is old, really old and you really need someone who knows it to be able to suggest a solution. If it was XBMC you'd likely be able to resolve the problem just by holding down the controller joysticks (L3/R3) at boot up to restore default setting...

Re: Just got my hands on a classic Xbox - looking for some advice
On the (i) information screen (click down on the right stick to bring up the shutdown menu which with many skins includes that) it should show the specific XBMC version at the bottom in front of the revision number. The current, likely final, XBMC is v3.5.3, on the Xbox I've just checked it is shown...

Re: Black screen rebooting after a softmod, boots OK with official dashboard
What a weird, obscure cause for such a problem. I've learned something new. Glad you have it sorted. Makes me wonder about a problem I've had with certain Xboxes and getting generic MS dash files to work. Those Xboxes only work with their own MS dash files which of course would be using the correct ...

Re: Black screen rebooting after a softmod, boots OK with official dashboard
I've been thinking about it and I can not make any sense of what is happening. What it seems to boil down to is that it works until you disconnect the power. If it was a clock cap issue you'd expect an error 16 but you get a blank screen. No unusual LED flashing? Are you sure its a v1.0? If it was a...
