Dont you need component and not composite to run any of the Progressive scan HD settings ? - (not sure about NTSC consoles ).? The splash screen will only ever display 480i at bootup and then once XBMC loads it switches to you selected output.

Apart from a single cable solution you are not going to achieve any video output improvements using the converter, you are still limited but the GPU capabilities of the xbox.

I believe you can boot with a chip and then once in the flash menu (hdd or disc) then you un-socket the chip and continue the flash, i know i have read that somewhere. If your soldering skills are good you could remove the tsop chip and replace it.

Damn, i saw it and was nearly going to ask if you'd sell without the hdd and i'd stick my 2tb hdd in it.
